There are several well written articles on Gary's experience in Alaska. Apparently his remains were discovered years ago (he likely passed in 1976?) but not DNA analyzed until more recently.  A number of family and friends had the opportunity to "welcome Gary back home" last summer at a graveside service in Clay. Interesting, as the class of 70 is in now in their 70's, to envision the loss of life at such a young age. He was a good friend. Bob Sturge, Charlotte, NC

Gary and I grew up in Clay NY, a town to small to NOT know your neighbor. I vividly remember visiting Gary where he, Terry Phinney and I would lip sync to beach boys and beatles records. As I hardly connected with anyone after graduating high school, I had only heard about Gary's disappearance when I visited home on leave from the military.  Gary was a very kind soul, with a warm smile and open heart.  We'll miss you Gary.
