Susette M. Olewine 
Susette M. Susie Olewine, 52, of Slatington, passed away peacefully December 2, 2009 in her home surrounded by her loving family. She was the wife of Marvin C. Olewine Jr. They celebrated their 21st wedding anniversary in August. Born in Allentown, she was the daughter of Louis L. and Joyce M. (Hansler) Szoke. Susie managed Maple Springs for three years, after which she purchased, opened and operated her restaurant, Susies Shady Nook, Slatington, for the past 26 years. She was a Girl Scout from Brownies to Cadets, past president of the N.L. Jaycees, from 1986-1987. She served on the Washington Township Zoning Board for 10 years. She was an active member of the Programs & Events Committee where she was past organizer, judge and former Grand Marshal of the Slatington Halloween Parade and she was involved with the Heritage Day Program held every July 4 in Baptist church. Since 1991, she was treasurer of the Endless Hills Doll & Toy Club. Susie was a member of St. Johns United Church of Christ, Slatington. Survivors: Husband; parents; sisters, Bernadette M. and her husband, George F. Farkas and Antoinette M. and her husband, Wallace O. Grube, all of Walnutport; brothers, Randal L. and his wife, Kim L. Szoke, Thomas L. and his wife, Sherri A. Szoke, Lawrence L. and his wife, Lisa A. Szoke, all of Walnutport; stepbrother, Gerald Smith of Bethlehem; special daughter, Hayley; brother-in-law, Thomas Hahn of Palmerton; nieces and nephews, Trisha, Nicholas, Christopher, Derrick, Ryan, Joshua, Zachary, Luke, Mark, Louis, Adrienne, Ashley, Tyler, Kaitlyn, Antoinette, Joel, Ryan and Muff; grandnieces and grandnephews, Nikita, Jayden, Trinity and Taylor. Susie was predeceased by her sister, Lisette M. Hahn, and niece, Tracy L. Szoke. Services: 10:30 a.m. Saturday, December 5, 2009 in St. Johns U.C.C., 15 S. Second St., Slatington.
