FAQs and How Tos

Please register!

This is the official website for the Northville High School Class of 1979.  (Although you can certainly use other websites such as alumniclass.com, classmates.com or myschoolreunited.com, this is where future events will be posted.  And it's free.)

This website was created to help our reunion committee collect data and plan our 30th class reunion in 2009.  Please register so that we may include you in any future events!  You will also be able to contact old friends and classmates that you have lost touch with over the years.  Its our very own, private social networking website strictly for the benefit of Northville High School Class of 1979.

Thanks for registering, and we hope you enjoy the website.  The Reunion Committee: Greg Bach, Karen (Boll) Robideau, and Susan (Pegrum) Crossley.  Webmaster:  Allyn Young.

Registration and Creating a Profile

1. Click "Classmate Profiles" in the menu panel to the left.

2. Find your name and click on it.

3.  Your email will be your login and you will be asked to create a password.  Unlike other websites which require you to verify a new password by entering it twice, our system currently only requires one entry so be sure that you enter it correctly and write it down in a secure place.

4.  Once you are in your profile, add any information you want to appear in your profile and then SAVE it.  You can include a short bio, photos, videos, school memories, etc.  It’s your profile and you can include whatever you’d like.

5.  Your profile will need to be verified by one of the website administrators, and then you'll be able to access all pages on this site.

Privacy Settings:

There are two privacy settings on your profile page and contact information page that you should understand

Profile Visibility - Checking this option allows only registered classmates to view your yearbook photo or profile details, and will block the general public and search engines from accessing your profile details.  Leaving this box unchecked will allow the public to see your profile page.

Contact Details – Checking this option permits registered classmates to see your address and telephone number. Leaving this box unchecked will hide your address and telephone from registered classmates and they will only be able to see your city and state.   Whether you check or leave this box unchecked, your email address, mailing address and telephone numbers are not visible to the public and not findable/indexable by search engines.

Receiving email:

Be sure to add postmaster@classcreator.net to your address book and adjust your spam settings and filters so that you can receive email from the website, otherwise email from the website will likely end up in your junk or spam folder.

Classmates will not be able to see your email, although they will be able to contact you via email by using the contact box at the bottom of your profile.  However, if you reply to or send a message to someone through their profile, they will then be able to see your email address so that they may respond to you.

Posting photos

You can upload a current photo of yourself, your family, pets, vacations, old photos from days gone by, past reunions, etc. -- anything you want to share -- by clicking on "Edit/Upload Photos" under the Member Functions menu on the left.

  • There is no limit on the number of digital photos that you can store on your "Classmate Profile" page.

  • Each photo is automatically resized to fit on your Profile page.

  • You can add, delete, or replace your own photos or videos at any time.

Posting You Tube videos

On You Tube, make sure your video is showing in the play box.

To the right of the video you'll see a gray box, and near the bottom of this box is the grayed word "Embed." And just below that a long horizontal white box that contains the code for the video. When this code is placed in the Video box on your Edit Profile page, the video player with your video will appear and classmates can view it from your page. Here are the steps to get the code on your page:

  • With your mouse, left click once on the white window that contains the code. It should turn blue. (Alternatively, you can move your mouse across the box until all the code turns blue.)

  • On your keyboard hold down the Control key (Ctrl) and click the letter C key. This copies the code.
  • On your Edit Profile page, locate the box "Videos."Place your cursor inside the box and left click with your mouse. Now press the Control key and the letter V key on your keyboard. The Embed code will now appear in your box. The code should look like this:
<object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="https://www.youtube.com/v/QTXyXuqfBLA&hl=en&fs=1&color 1=0x234900&color2=0x4e9e00"></param><param name= "allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><embed src="https://www.youtube.com/v/QTXyXuqfBLA&hl=en&fs=1& color1=0x234900&color2=0x4e9e00" type="application/x- shockwave-flash" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height= "344"></embed></object>
  • Enter a name for your video in the Video Description box just below.
  • Now click the Save button and go view your page.

Want to keep this website going?

This website was created through an internet service called ClassCreator.com that provides website hosting to high schools, colleges, and alumni associations worldwide.  Although membership to you is free, there is an annual cost of about $115 to maintain the website hosting.

Thanks to generous donations from our classmates, we have collected enough money to keep this site going for five years!  We've removed the donation option as we have no way to bank any extra money at this time.

Questions, suggestions, or general comments can be sent via the "Contact Us" link in the menu panel.
