After graduation I worked at Revco in Barberton for 20 years. I married Bill Tichon on July 7,1979. Dustin came to us September 17, 1986. I retired from Revco & started in-home childcare in 1996 when my younger sister had her first child. I watched many babies grow into fine young people who hold special places in my heart.
I went back to school in August 2006 to begin a new career. I graduated August 2008 as class "Valedictorian" from Ohio College of Massotherapy. I worked with my ex-sister-in-law doing massage at her place of business until 2009 when I started my own business "Bella Paloma Massotherapy" @ 4861 South Main Street in Green, Ohio. January 2015, I moved my business to 414 E. Paige Ave, Barberton, Ohio and I continue to enjoy helping my clients with their health needs through massage therapy.
After 33 years of marriage, my husband and I divorced in 2012 so I have been adjusting to being a single woman again. I have made new friends, reconnected with old friends and found I am stronger than I knew.
My son, Dustin, married a wonderful young lady, Jenny, in November 2014. So my family has grown and I am enjoying the fruits of my labor (raising my son) as my son and daughter-in-law are making a life for themselves. It warms my heart to see them so in love and enjoying the wonders of marriage. I am waiting for the next phase of becoming a Grandma (Nana) to my future grandchildren. :-)
There is much of High School I have forgotten until I start hearing others talk about it...sad but true. Most of my memories have to do with band. I loved being in the band, the marching, the concerts, the band trips & working in the band office. I still play the French Horn when I have opportunity...in church & with the Historic Medina Symphony in Medina,Ohio. Probably the most memorable for me would be our trip to New Orleans. Karen Cotterman & Gary Rafferty with their claustrophobia made for an interesting flight down & back. Our detour to Detroit & bus ride home added to the excitement.
I also remember eating at the Red Barn & Sweet Henries after the football games.
There was one football game against Manchester that was snowing so hard, the woodwinds could not play so they were suppose to sing or hum their part, just brass & percussion played. No one could see us through the blizzard conditions & we marched (mostly slipping & sliding) on. I lost my mouthpiece along the way & had to hum my part. When we were done we turned our wet, muddy uniforms in for good, as we got new uniforms the next year...fancy capes and spats to go along with them. Oh, those were the days!!!
