Do you have any memories of your high school years? Tell us!

Oh my gosh, any one specific memory of my high school years? I'm going to chalk this up to a senior moment:). However I don't recall very many days that I didn't look forward to high school. I do remember that I had many friends, and I think that was because we all started out in the old public school and we remained friends all thru junior and senior high. I loved gym classes, all sports in general, although, as Dale Denison pointed out at our first committee meeting, those things were god awful ugly. Like if they threw us off a plane we would graceful parachute to the ground. They were the traditional blue color of our school but definitely not for the fashion conscious. I was a member of the Senior Basketball and Volleyball teams. Miss Hill was our coach, not only for basketball, but volleyball as well. She was very nice to us, and even though we didn't win very many games, she was a great coach and we had fun travelling, (of course we did,) we could skip our classes. Some of my favorite teachers were Mr. & Mrs. Beecroft, Mr. Strachan, and Miss Magyar. My least favorite thing, "Shephard's Pie"! Once a week, I've forgotten which day it was served, either a Monday or Friday. Yuk, I shudder at the thought. I must have had a bad experience with eating it one day, and that stays vivid in my memory. I'm certain the recipe has improved over the years, and some of you may love it, but I'll pass on this one. I've taken a couple of trips down memory lane. Once was last summer, when I took my grandchildren to Norwich, just to show them where Nanny lived, played baseball at the park(now a playground), the United Church were I sang in the choir(don't laugh, I could actually hold a tune back then):), to where I attended Public School(now replaced with the new one) and finally our High School. It was a day they enjoyed as much as I did. So many changes, the gym, now the library, the new addition and gym which is absolutely beautiful and second to none in comparison to other schools, but 2 things have remained just as they were in the 60's. The cafeteria and the girl's washroom beside it. LOL. For those of us who may have forgotten so much, just wait until our reunion." MEMORIES"__There's a place within our hearts
Where we keep our favorite memories,
The ones that never fail to make us smile ---
And when life becomes too hectic
It's such a special feeling
To close our eyes and reminisce awhile.

Are you looking forward to the reunion?

I am honoured to be Chair of our final high school reunion. What a great opportunity to get together with our school friends and teachers. It is with mixed feelings that we will all share in this reunion but let's make it one to remember forever. We hope to keep this school site up indefinitely. That way, with a click of your mouse we can all stay in touch. Don't be shy and share some of your memories with all of us.
After graduating, I went to hairdressing school in Brantford. I married my best friend in 1967, we purchased the home tobacco farm from his parents and grew the crop until 2004. I worked for the Township of Norfolk as secretary for 4 years. I then took the Real Estate course and started my career of 13 years with DeGeyter R.E. in Delhi. I enjoyed it very much. Then, along came my new grandchildren and I decided I'd had enough working weekends, open houses, running back and forth to Delhi every day. I needed to spend more time with them. Once they were in JK, I was offered a position with the Tillsonburg District Real Estate Board. My dream job! Part time, sometimes more depending on the EO's schedule. When will I call it quits? I never think that far ahead. One day at a time, that's my motto.

Do you still have family around Norwich?

Yes I have an Uncle and cousin.

How often do you get back to Norwich?

More often now that the reunion is over. I've made so many new friends and we go out, play euchre and do what women do, yack:)

What do you do now?

What do you like to do in your spare time?

How old do you feel?

Any grey hair yet? Women don't have to honestly answer this one:)

My hair has been colored ever since my friend and I decided to streak our hair with javex. Long as I can cover up my grey, you won't see it, ever. No, I'm not a true blonde:)

What would we be surprised to know about you?

Any words of wisdom?

Treat others as you would want to be treated.

Many, many times. My family said that if they still had criers at funerals like the old days, I would be their #1 favorite, lol.
