Do you have any memories of your high school years? Tell us!
I remember well the day we heard of J.F. Kennedy's assassination. I was sitting in the cafeteria, finishing an exam. When the final bell rang, the radio was put on loudspeaker, telling of the horrendous events. I remember we all sat there in shock.
I remember going to Mrs. Miller's home economics class, and having to stand up in front of her and the class and carrying out a recipe she had chosen. I had forgotten to take the butter out of the fridge, in time, and it was rather hard.
I remember being called into Mr. St. John's office, with all of the other girls of my graduating class, and told that we had 3 choices of careers. Teachers, nurses or secretaries. Even then I didn't believe him. However, I bet a lot of us chose one of these careers. I became an elementary school teacher.
I remember standing in line every day for lunch, which I paid for from my babysitting money. We knew each day of the week what was for lunch. I had one friend who never paid, but only ate free white bread and ketchup sandwiches for lunch.
I remember being embarassed to wear those blue Phys. Ed. bloomers, especially in front of the boys.
