Have worked in the transportation industry since graduation following in my Grandfather and Fathers footsteps. Worked as a truck driver from 1988 to 1997. Have continued to move up through the ranks since then, and now manage one of the most successful terminals in the nation for Estes Express Lines. Have been managing the terminal in Elkhart,IN. since 2004, and living in MI. since then. Married my high school sweetheart Geanine (Akin),a 1990 graduate, in 1991, and have 2 boys, Jimmy 12, and Tommy 9. We enjoy the outdoors, and living in Michigan, away from the traffic and congestion in Chicagoland. We live on some acreage in the middle of nowhere about 12 miles west of Notre Dame. Changed my last name to Van Dyck earlier this year, because that is my families true last name. Dunn was my Dads stepdads name. Being that I have 2 boys, I felt it was important to carry on the real family name.
I cant say I have any one memory that stands out from high school other than meeting my future wife Geanine, and my friends that have stood the test of time, Paul Hennessy, Gina Madison (Versaskas), Fred Seneca. I still have contact with several more former classmates from time to time, but life and kids keep you busy, and we rarely see each-other. To be honest I hated school, and it was a social event for me. I viewed it as a chance to work on my material because I guess I thought I was a comedian back then. Most teachers didnt understand my humor, so I spent alot of time in detention. I pissed off alot of coaches as well by not taking sports as seriously as they wanted, and preferring to drink and chase girls instead. Sorry Lockwood, Storer, Chilvers, Dunne, Marcordes. My best memories of high school were away from school partying with the most genuine bunch of friends a guy could have, like Paul Hennessy, Dave Feigl, Bill Joritz, John LaMountain, Fred Seneca and too many more to mention. These guys were the kind of friends you only have at that age. I sometimes miss nights hanging out at the Oak Lawn Lagoon, or at Hennessy's brothers house in Chicago. Thats where all the lasting memories were made.
