Frank Blossom

Frank Blossom

Frank passed away April 2, 2022.  He is survived by his wife, Sam, and his two children, Jessin and Kelllyn.  Frank lived in Grand Rapids, Michigan and spent his life in advertising. He owned his own company, created a program for the young people starting out in advertising, and taught at Grand Valley State.

An endowed fund has been created to support the professional development of Advertising and Public Relations students at Grand Valley State University. The Frank Fund was created in honor of Professor Frank Blossom, a 40-year ad industry veteran, who retired from GVSU after 10 years of teaching. Frank passed away in April 2022, but his memory and his mission live on. The fund supports professional development opportunities for Advertising and Public Relations majors, ranging from airfare to conference registrations to experiential learning outside the walls of GVSU.

The Frank Fund is very much in line with Frank Blossom’s legacy of giving and mentoring. He was known for his care for students and for going above and beyond to help them succeed. “Frank was passionate about students gaining experience beyond the classroom, whether that was hands-on projects or networking with industry professionals,” said Adrienne Wallace, Associate Professor, GVSU Advertising & Public Relations.

Frank...what a shocking loss, my sincere sympathies to his family....The best description of Frank is what a GREAT guy, and friend.  My memories of Frank include short notes, funny, newsy, chatty, tucked into my locker, always a fun surprise, signed Frank with a 🌸.  I wish I had kept some.  No surprise he became a talented writer, teacher and created an advertising agency.  He was special.

Very sad to learn of Frank's passing.  We competed for the 112 lb spot on the Freashman Wrestling team.  I am still thankful that we were in different weight classes for the next three years.  A really nice guy!

Frank and I shared many classes at OPRF.  He was a great classmate and great to share a class with.

The world is alittle less bright now that Frank is gone.  I remember him as beiing kind, bright and enjoyable to be around.  He was a friend to all.  Rest in peace, old friend.

i Have gone back and re-read what Frank wrote in my '64 Tabula. He wrote: "I'm not gonna write a lot 'cause I'll see ya..." and then continued for the full page. Frank was an 'improv' artist and the creator of "The Journal"; a spiral note book we passed among a few of us who 'hung' together. His validiction was: "So the sand  is mellow in California so beach boy let's wail and pail. Byie...Literary Editor. Keep wailin!. FranK". Then he drew a daisy next to his name. That's the Frank I remember.
