My dear high school friend Julia Higgins Carskadon passed away from cancer in December 1994. She was sweet, smart, funny and completely genuine. How she and her wonderful family helped ease the four-year passage for me! The following is from the Chicago Tribune:
"Julia Higgins Carskadon, 48, former chairwoman and professor of the Early Childhood Education Department at the University of Texas-Permian Basin in Odessa, Texas, died Friday at home in River Forest. A native of the Chicago area, Mrs. Carskadon graduated from Oak Park-River Forest High School. She received her bachelor's degree from Oberlin College, her master's degree from Mississippi University for Women and her doctorate from Mississippi State University." She is currently survived by two children and three sisters.
