I think my memory is correct on this.  I think that Bill lived on Williams street and I used to pass close to his house on my way to Roosevelt school.  There is a good  chance that we were at Roosevelt from kindergarden thru the 8th grade.  We were not close but I remember knowing him for many years.  There were only about 15 of us in that class.  I remember that he was possily the tallest child in our class.  He had a warmth of personality about hime that few people have.

Hi Janice Leiner.  Yes Bill McCall was with us at Roosevelt elementary and Junior High.  And yes, he was the tallest in our class.  I went to his Celebration of Life in Austin yesterday, 6/18/24.  As much as I thought I knew about Bill, it was nothing like the life he led.  His friends spoke lovingly about his love of trains, corvettes and serving others.  He apparently could fix anything and was a gourmet cook.  Apparently he died suddenly after some surgery and developed pneumonia from which he could not recover.  I am stunned at his death because of course he is our age, and I still think of ourselves as the kids of River Forest.  He will be missed.  Photo is from our 50th reunion.
