My sincere regrets to Carol's loving husband and family.  When they moved to Raleigh where I live, we had a very long lunch at Panera & reminisced our H.S. days.  May her loving memory be a blessing & comfort to her husband, children & grandchildren.

Oh, dear, so sad to get this news.  Carol was just the sweetest person ever, 8 grandchildren, loving family.  Sympathies to all.

I knew & was friends with Carol from 6th grade on through high school. Her homeroom was next to mine & we had the same lunch period, tho few classes together as I recall. We got the chance to talk at the last reunion's events & were often in agreement on the mental health issues many kids today face. Her genuine kindness & sweet personality were such a breath of fresh air for so many throughout the years.

Sending condolences to your family & many friends & coworkers.

RIP Carol,

Fondly, Dawn

I read Dawn Petrole's comments with interest because lately I've been thinking a lot about students' mental health issues and wishing that at Oak Park we'd had access to mental health counseling in addition to academic counselors. At that time, it might not have been common in secondary schools. (If there were such counselors available, I wasn't aware if it.)  I had issues I'd have liked to discuss but kept them to myself because there didn't seem to be anyone at school or at home to share them with.  As I look back, one of the female gym teachers was very kind to me and would have been  helpful to talk to, but I didn't realize it at the time.
