Valerie Marie Jones Abad

Attended SF State 1969 - 1974 completing a B.A. in Psychology and teaching credential. Returned to complete a Master's degree in Education and then attended SF State, UC Berkeley, and Capella University completing a PhD in Education.

Taught in Oakland schools, Emery schools, Alameda County Office of Education, Chabot Science Center, Alameda schools, and Oakland Military Institute between 1970 and 2007, then I opened an Oakland charter school - The Conservatory of Vocal/Instrumental Arts (COVA grades K - 8). I served as the COVA Director until 2013. In 2014, we were approved to open the 9 - 12 high school COVAH in August 2015. I retired in July 2021 from school administration, and currently serve as the CEO of the COVAH Music Nonprofit.
