Aloha all,
So it's cold there...........it's a little chilly here--only 77. Really can't complain about the weather, hard to wear shorts and flipflops everyday!! But hey, somebody has to do it.
Hope everyone is preparing for a great Christmas--Christmas here will be a bit different--since everything will be green and nothing white to shovel.
Please keep Tim and his family in your thoughts and prayers as I am sure this is a difficult time for them.
Remember to look me up if anybody decides to venture to the most western state in the union--I'll give ya a good tour.
Merry Christmas class of '78

Merry Christmas class of 1978. Hope everyone has had a great year. Please keep Tim in your prayers and send him a card. Makes me give myself a "reality check" to be very thankful for the things I do have and for good health. Hope everyone has a safe new year!!

Merry Christmas Everyone! I know all of us have been good this year so we should be raking in the presents, however, I think I would like some coal in my stocking so I can keep warm!!! Have a safe New Year too!

The funeral was a nice tribute to Tim's life. He has many family and friends who will miss seeing him but his memory will live on thru them.

Hi Just wanted to let the great class of 78 know that Gary is turning the big "50" and we are having a surprise birthday party on Jan 31 at the Nzone in Oakland around 7. Love to see you all there and of course party with you. You're a great bunch of people and I'm glad to be part of your class. Remember it's a surprise. Maybe you can set another shot record. LOL

Thanks

Hi and Happy January

I just wanted to say that Iowa in the winter really sucks!!!!! I am ready for Spring weather. Just the weather though, I am not ready for Mitchell to Graduate.
I think that we should all get together and go visit Val!

Have a good week and hope to see you at Gary's party.

Hi everyone;
Just a note to say I have been very bad about checking in, but I'm at work and the boss is in the other room... If anyone is in Oakland this Saturday(18th), come on down to the Nzone. I'm celebrating the last year of my 40's and Nancy has booked a new Kareoke guy. Not exactly a trip to Cancun, but something to do when the weather SUCKS!!!

Kimberly Hamblin (McDonald)

My goodness so many of you turning the big 5-0! Did you ever think we'd hit that milestone? I remember when my parents celebrated their 5-0 -- I thought they were OLD!! Now that I can see it on the horizon, doesn't seem so old to me!!! Happy Birthday to all of you and I'll try to head that way for a quick cocktail -- but none of that shot crap! Teehee

Since the weather here is soooo cold, Karyl and I have purchased tickets to Vegas. Our flight leaves Des Moines on the 12th and return on the 16th. We don't have a hotel yet but thought I would try Priceline to get a good deal. If anyone was interested in joining us I could try to book the same hotel and maybe get a GREAT deal with multiple rooms. Talk it over with your significant other and let me know.

Hope to hear from you soon.

PS: It will be Valentines weekend the Sunday we are there so this may take care of that gift thing, (GUYS)!!!

The king of the house is sitting on his throne as we speak while I was reading the email about the Vegas trip. One question came out of the kings mouth...what part of the trip is Gayle going to pay for?

"All inclusive" was the verbal I received from Gayle but you may want to double check with Karyl before committing.

Sounds like fun ... there is a great Casino Hotel called South Point Hotel and Casino. It's about 15 minutes from the strip. It's 3 years old and rooms go for about $90 per night. Best deal I've found in Vegas. This one of the places they have the World Championship Rodeo. Huge property, theaters, bowling alley, Horse arena, and all the usual gambling. Rooms have 42'plasmas. It's cheap due to not being onthe strip. I stay there about once per month for business. It's a stright shot down the interstate to the strip. Check it out!

This really sucks, I have to drive to Mexico in about an hour. I guess it's 75 and sunny, lot's of beach time to log! Yuk, the ole ball and chain is sooo demanding!

Can attest to Dave's comments on South Pointe. stayed there in November for a few nights before moving over to the strip. Pretty nice and reasonable rates. Enjoy Mexico Dave with that sooo demanding wife of yours!

A group trip sounds fun, but I get to do that in Vegas in May. My youngest daughter moved her wedding from Florida to Las Vegas. For those of you who have been out there lately, where else did you stay? We're looking at the north end of the strip. The chapel she picked is by the Stratosphere. We stayed there 3 years ago and it wasn't too bad, but haven't seen many reviews that were good. Looking for something fairly cost efficient, cause there are a BUNCH of us going. Thanks for any info you can give me!

To Gayle..."gift thing guys?" Uhhh...I'm married now and wining and dining has now changed to my whinning and fixing the dinner!!!! Have fun in Vegas!

To Carol...CONGRATULATIONS on your daughter's upcoming wedding!

To Gary...hope your birthday was fun and memorable. you know...now that you are older, it takes much longer to get over those hangover headaches! At YOUR age, you can't even muster up the effort or desire to do the old tried and true fix....go right back out and start drinking the next day cause your body hurts all over now, not just your head like the younger days! Happy Birthday!

See ya...Kim

Hi everyone,
I just want to tell everyone who is turning 49 this year to live it up. This is your last good year until.......fabulous 50! I will continue with my same lie and that is that I'm only 39. (I had to up the years lately because when I told someone I was only 36 they said, "Yeah right. Tell me another one." Not very nice. Weather in CT has been cold and snowy. I don't mind the snow so much because as a teacher, I love having the day off. I went to San Diego a couple of weeks ago. Didn't go to Mexico since I've been told its really not safe w/ all the drugs and kidnappings. I was in Mexico last December while visiting my mother in southern Texas. Border towns are always scarey. I am going to Lake Havesu, Arizona in a month. THat should be nice and warm. Maybe I'll look up the two in our class who live there. Anyway just wanted to say Hello.
Jeannie
P.S. Looks like I'm not playing at Yale this year. I had bilateral carpal tunnel surgury and I'm still not 100%. Next year definately.

Do any of you remember John Cannon (the teacher who wore the plaid pants with the plaid shirts) I was reading in the Herald today that he passed away. He and his wife (Connie Reecy, English teacher) have 3 kids and live on a farm in Newton. He was only 56. Man I thought he was old when he taught us but I guess not.

Hope everyone is doing great. Have a great summer.
