After OHS, I attended OC for a year and then transferred to Hardin-Simmons in Abilene, where I graduated in 1966 with degree in Bible and History. I enjoyed my college days very much, met my wife, Day Nell Williams, who I married in June 1966 and after 45 years she is still putting up with me. After graduation I attended Southwestern Seminary in Fort Worth for 3 years but did not graduate. While in Fort Worth, Day attended TCU and graduated with honors, then began teaching in Fort Worth ISD. I worked at Harris Hospital in Fort Worth, then went to work for EDS when it was a small company, it is where I got my technical education. EDS moved us to San Francisco. After a three year stint with EDS, I moved to Texas Instruments and spent 10 years there, much of the time traveling both in the US and abroad. During my career with TI, Paige was born in 1975 and then Tim in 1977. Day quit teaching and stayed home with our kids until Tim went to College, then she returned to teaching. In 1983, left TI and started a manufacturing company called Time Technologies. We built specialty computers for the CPA and Legal markets. 1987, I sold the technology and closed the business. After selling Time Tech, I returned to the corporate world, as corporate officer in the IT area. My last position in corporate was as President of Information Technology for McLane Company (1993-1998). I left McLane and being tired of corporate, I entered the consulting field and was a Managing Director for Pricewaterhouse Coopers. I throughly enjoyed my time at PWC, but there was lots of travel, In 2003, I left PWC and my son and I started a Capital business and Home building business. Things went well for us, until late 2005, we got caught in the early throws of the housing market down turn. In fact 2006 was a "unhealthy" year.
In 2006 had the following events,
- February, closed our business. -
March, my wife's nephew (who was our sons age 28) passed away.
- April 30th my mother passed away.
- May 27th my dad died.
- Our son was engaged to be married in July, and on July 1st while returning from a wedding shower, we where hit on my wife's side of the car by a pick up doing 65. We were on a country road around midnight, Care-Flight took her to Methodist Hospital in Fort Worth where she spend 3 weeks in intensive care. My son and his now wife, changed their wedding plans, restructured their wedding and moved it to the Hospital Chapel so that my wife might be able to attend.
- July 22nd, their wedding day, she woke up and and was herself again. She went from ICU, to the wedding, and was moved to a hospital room. An ICU nurse said, "well I have seen it all, I have watched patients leave here for rooms, rehab hospitals, funeral homes, but never for a wedding". Day was in the hospital for two more weeks then out patient rehap for 6 weeks. She has always been a mother and a school teacher, and 90 days after the wreck, she returned to the class room.
- November, her father passed away
- December (2 weeks after her father's passing her mother passed away.
So 06 was monumental, a closed business, 5 deaths, major accident and wedding. God and his mercy has seen us through it all.
After closing our Capital business, I returned to consulting but on my own. I have spend a good deal of time abroad in England and Finland. Also have consulted here in the states.
Day retired this year, and when I am not working, we spend time with our son and his family. Our daughter who is a single mother, has returned to college to get her degree. To help with her expenses, she and our grandson currently live with us. I so spend time doing woodworking (making little pieces of wood out of large pieces) and restoring old furniture. Current project is a rocking chair that is around a 100 years old.
