Biography

JOE LORIN LAMB

Joe Lorin Lamb, age 47, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, December 9, 2009 at Park Plaza Hospital while attending a business conference in Houston. Joe was born May 16, 1962 to Robert and Mary Evelyn (Henson) Lamb in Odessa, Texas. He was a 1980 graduate of Odessa High School. He served in the U. S. Army as an Airborne Pathfinder from 1981 to 1984. He was Chief Building Official for the City of Port Aransas for the past seven years.

Joe also served as the Region 9 Director for the Texas Flood Plain Management Association, and had been an active member since 2002. He was also appointed to the Governor’s State Task Force for Homeland Security/FEMA. Joe wore many hats while working for the City of Port Aransas, He was the City Fire Marshall, Plans Examiner, Plumbing, Mechanical, Electrical, and Structural inspector, Flood Plain Administrator, Director of Code Enforcement and as he like to say “The Custodian after 3:00.”

Joe was also involved in the Port Aransas Soccer Association, and also held various positions within the Odessa Soccer Association, and the Gregory-Portland Soccer Association. He touched many children’s lives and volunteered numerous hours mentoring children of all ages. Of all of his accomplishments he was most proud of the legacy he would leave with the children he touched. He believed if you can touch a child’s life you will live forever.

He married his soul mate, Michelle Locklar on July 25, 1997, but told everyone they were married from the day they met on February 10, 1994. He is survived by his beloved wife, Michelle of Corpus Christi, his daughters, Rachel Lamb of Las Cruces, NM, and Shayna Davis of Corpus Christi, his parents, Robert & Mary Evelyn Lamb of Odessa, and his brother, Robert Lamb & wife Shaye of Odessa. His constant companions, his Shih Tzu’s Otter & Oreo, who will miss their nightly belly rubs. He is also survived by four nieces and nephews who he adored along with ten great-nieces and nephews, and numerous cousins, aunts, uncles, friends and co workers who will miss him greatly.

Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, December 16, 2009 at the First Christian Church with Mark E. Ritter officiating.

A Memorial Celebration will also be held at 12:00 Noon Monday, December 21, at Robert’s Points Park in Port Aransas, TX. A palm tree will be planted in his memory overlooking the Port Aransas Soccer Fields.

Services entrusted to Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers Memorials may be made to the ASPCA or to your local Humane Society.

Sylvia Valenzuela (Enriquez)

To my dear friend, He was a great guy. I remember him and other friends throwing me a small birtday party during lunch at the malt shop. We were in the 6th grade. He will be missed so much. My heart and thoughts will always he with his family. I was so looking forward in seeing him at the reunion..

Wow.... So sorry to learn of Joe's passing. He was an awesome guy and made everyone that was ever around him smile and laugh. He was a one of a kind. He will truly be missed by many. My thoughts and prayers are with his family at this very difficult time. Even more so with it being so close to the holidays. Bless them all, and my God give them the strength to heal their broken hearts.

RIP Joe, you will forever remain in our hearts. and someday we will all meet again my friend!
