Survived By: Larry is survived by his loving wife of 15 years Lisa Sotero Barreraz and by his son Gabriel Barreraz and wife Meagan; son Frank Olivarez; daughter Lucenda Barreraz; daughter Melissa Davis and husband Geoffrey; son Anthony Barreraz; and grandchildren Adriana and Alessandra Davis; and baby Barreraz. He is also survived by his mother, Juanita Carnero; brother Fabian Barreraz and wife Martha; sister Rosa Galindo; sister Eloisa Barreraz; brother, Jesse Barreraz and wife Amy.

Larry Carrillo Barreraz Born in Odessa, TX on Feb. 10, 1966 Departed on Feb. 13, 2013 and resided in Mesquite, TX. Visitation: Sunday, Feb. 17, 2013 10:00 am - 8:00 pm Funeral Service: Monday, Feb. 18, 2013 2:00 pm LARRY CARRILLO BARRERAZ of Mesquite, TX completed his life journey on February 13, 2013. After a courageous 2-year battle with cancer, Larry went home to be with his lord and savior. He was preceded in death by his father Tony Barreraz. Larry was born on February 10, 1966 in Odessa, TX to Juanita Carnero and Tony Barreraz. He spent his childhood and early years in Odessa where he attended school and graduated from the Odessa Police Academy in 1991. Larry came to Dallas to pursue his interest in becoming a police officer. He wanted to help people who experienced the same struggles he faced growing up. In 1994 he achieved his dream and graduated from the Dallas Police Academy. During his time on the force, he spent most of his time in SouthEast Division on patrol until he eventually moved to the Family Violence division as a detective. He retired after 19 years of service from the Dallas Police Department. He enjoyed his time with the department where he made many lifelong friends. Larry was a religious man who believed in his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. He enjoyed spending time with his wife and children. He was as proud owner of a Harley Davidson Ultra Classic Electra Glide that he rode with his many friends. He bled silver and blue as a diehard Dallas Cowboys fan. Visitation for Larry will be held on Sunday, February 17th from 10 am to 8 pm at Laurel Oaks Funeral Home in Mesquite, Texas. The funeral services will be held on Monday at 2 pm, also at the funeral home.
