Daniel was funny when he was comfortable in his element. I did not realize till after my father became ill that his father and mine were friends. Daniel was a good person.

I had no idea that Daniel had died. He and I became friends in the first grade. He was truly a good guy. It makes me sad that I lost contact with him over the years.Linda Thompson (Lawson)
Russell Brown emailed:I was the Executive Officer for A-Company 3-112th Armor in the Texas Army National Guard based in San Angelo, Texas when Danny died in 1997. SGT Barriga was a Tank Commander in A-Company. Danny was a great soldier and a real pleasure to be around. He was always smiling no matter what.
I just wanted to let you know that his cause of death listed on the web site is wrong. He died very suddenly from a brain aneurysm. I don't know if you can corroborate this information from old newspaper articles or from his church (he had converted to Pentecostal). I had just seen Danny at our National Guard Drill only a day or two before he died. I was very moved by his death because he was only 30 and he had so much to give.
