Comments:

I've only attended two reunions over the years but temporarily planning to come to future lunches etc.
Went to BYU B.A, M.A. Juris Doctorate, Attended Bowling Green State U. in Ohio, Ph.D. Taught college ten years at Bowling Green and Southern Utah U. Practiced law after law school, President of the Davis County Bar, appointed to the bench in 1985, served for twenty-five years, reelected four times, served three additional years as a senior judge, served a term on the State Judicial Council, served as chair of the state board of Juvenile Court judges, published a case note in BYU Law Review, two articles in Utah Bar Journal on Juvenile Justice.
Mission to Kentucky 1963-65, taught Sunday School, served three missions with wife, one as Institute Director(s) in San Diego Mission. My wife and I married in SLC temple 1966. She’s a Davis High girl, Rebecca Layton. Becky and I served as zone leaders for two and a half years in the Pathway education program for the LDS church. I play banjo, mandolin, guitar and Irish Bouzouki in a duo called “The Bowler Boys.” 22 original songs and three novels later, I’ve learned that retirement is sure busy!

School Story:

Somehow I was tempted to attend a band tryout for drum major, and got selected. Diane Arnoldus (Hope I spelled that right) was the Majorette, and we often practiced baton twirling (at which I was terrible) behind the old 12th street building after school. On one occasion I threw the metal baton high in the air, intending to catch it as part of the routine and keep it moving, but I misjudged the throw and it came down from quite a height, right on Diane's head. Lovely girl. She forgave me (I think).

Although I didn't know Steve well, I admired his courage and tenacity. He was a great example in regard to those qualities. He stood up for himself and others. Sad to see him gone from this world. We are poorer for it.

It’s been awhile since I logged in. It’s good to see so many are still ticking. Looking forward to the July luncheon. Is that still on? I’ve lost the details (they’re on my iPad somewhere, right next to the keys I can’t seem to locate.) Steve VanDyke/Kaysville

Tom was a kind person, and a friend in High School. He had a sense of humor and gentle soul.

I was shocked to hear of his death, and will miss the opportunity to see him again at school get togethers.

Mike was court administrator for the 2d District Juvenile Court while I served there as a judge for many years. He was my friend and a decent, fair man. He had teriffic management ability and was able to solve problems as they often arose in difficult administrative situations. He smoked cheroots, and I often admonistshed him to stop, as I felt they were not good for him. He'd laugh and tell me to back off. Mike was an impeccible dresser, and a very professional man. he liked his leisure and he was as amicable a fellow as any I ever met.

Verl: Good to know you're still alive and kicking. Have you heard from Jeff Rackham, Jerry Manson, the Gibby's or any others who lived in Roy back in the day? I've wondered over the years what became of them. Steve Van Dyke
