Lyle Keith Hamp, 55, of Strasburg, VA, passed away Tuesday, January 16, 2018 at the Warren Memorial Hospital in Front Royal, VA.

A funeral service for Mr. Hamp will be conducted at 4 p.m. Saturday, January 20, 2018 at The Church of Jesus Christ of the Latter-day Saints, 399 Apple Pie Ridge Road, Winchester with Bishop Jason Wright officiating.

Lyle Keith Hamp was born May 29, 1962 in Salt Lake City, Utah, son of Alden Keith and the late Ruth Mae Shakespire Hamp.

He was a proud Eagle Scout. He graduated from Weber High School.

He served a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in Arizona on the Navajo Reservation. He was a passionate pianist and Choir Director and served as a Scout Master.

He enjoyed classical music and spending time with his grandchildren.

People described him as quiet or a man of few words with great strength who loved the Lord. He had a funny playful side he saved for his family.

He is survived by his wife, Cynthia Ann Baber Hamp; his children, Jamie Lee Jones and husband Zach of Woodstock, Kristen Marie Bales and husband Chris of Front Royal, Shawn Christopher Hamp of Strasburg, Sadie Elizabeth Hamp of Ogden, Utah, Anna Marie Duckett and husband Austin of Warrenton, Tamika Alise Fischer of Strasburg, and Rachel Olivia Garcia of Strasburg; seven grandchildren; a sister, Geraldine Poulter of Ogden, Utah; and a brother, Brent Hamp.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Wayne Hamp.
