Brook Olsen Obituary

Brook E. Olsen, beloved son, father, and friend, passed away peacefully at home on July 4, 2025, at the age of 63.

Born on December 19, 1961, to Gareth E. Olsen and Charón Vandersteen, Brook was a lifelong resident of North Ogden, Utah. He attended Weber High School and Utah State University. He took immense pride in continuing the operation of his family’s business, Sod Buster Turf Farm, after his father’s retirement. Known for his dedication and work ethic. Brook also worked winters at Snowbasin as a snowcat operator, a role he cherished. He recently celebrated 40 years working at Snowbasin.

Brook met and married Annette L. Tiffany and lovingly welcomed her three children as his own. On April 22, 2000, their daughter and Brook’s first child, Ivy Brooke Olsen was born. They loved her for 3 months before losing her to SIDS. In May 2002 they welcomed twins, Elly and Lily, who became the center of Brook’s world. He was their biggest supporter, never missing a softball game or FFA event. His pride in his girls was boundless, and he would do anything to see them smile.

Brook was a man who found joy in life’s simple pleasures—fishing, skiing, and sipping a well-made martini on his deck. He was known for his quiet strength, his sense of humor, his chuckle, and his unwavering love for his family. He never passed up a family dinner with his kids and grandkids. Brook found beauty in the quiet moments, especially in enjoying sunsets from the top of Strawberry Run. Sitting in his snowcat he could gaze out across the entire city he loved.

He is survived by his parents, his mother Charón Vandersteen, his father and step mother Gareth E. Olsen and Elizabeth J. Shaver, brother Bryce G. Olsen, his twin daughters, Elly and Lily Olsen; step daughters Shantay (Ryan) Richins, Kya Hadley, and step son Taylor (Stephanie) Swenson, grandchildren Swayzee, Harlow, Aiden, Karsyn, and Indee, and the many nieces, nephews, friends, and coworkers whose lives he touched. He is preceded in death by his daughter, Ivy Brooke Olsen and Ivy’s mother Annette L. Tiffany Olsen. We miss you, Brook.

On Friday, July 11, 2025, family and friends are invited to attend funeral services at 1:00 PM at Leavitt's Mortuary located at 836 36th Street, Ogden, UT 84403. To be immediately followed by Graveside services at Ben Lomond Cemetery 526 E 2850 N, North Ogden, UT 84414.
