Dan Hutchison is a hero! We all love your posts dear friend and although many don't respond to them please continue to post. What an interesting life you've had and yet to have maintained such a fine sense of humor is remarkable!  -- Let me take a few lines to tell you my experiences in New Braunfels, Texas: Every Good Friday weekend, (for many years) we the leaders of our Ward took our young men and young women camping and canoeing down the Guadeloupe River. Crystal clear and refreshingly cold Spring water from the massive Edwards Aquifer and nearby dam runs deep throughout long sections of the wide river and cuts interesting paths and frightening rapids throughout limestone shoots and rock formations. I once wrapped a canoe right around a boulder yet remarkably, the stressed aluminum frame popped right back straight and neither myself or the explorer scout with me were injured. The two man team following us went through the same treacherous area backwards without mishap! Crazy fun with long lazy sun filled stretches where teenagers in rubber inner-tubes and rafts float quietly along.- Vacation and retirement Homes stud the banks of the tree lined river and here and there people waved to us from their porches as we floated past. Later on with tight sunburned skin, we roasted hot dogs and marshmallows watching a night sky filled with glittering stars and bright moon while off throughout our surroundings tiny neon lighted fireflies flitted about.- The down town area of New Braunfels is charmingly new with every franchise known to man lining the streets; nearby neighborhoods sport neat little three and four bedroom homes and many are large and lavish as well. It's a great city and the surrounding wooded hills and the lakes and rivers are very inviting. I know you and your wife will love the area - Plus, it's only 3 hours (give or take) from where I live... I'm really looking forward to seeing you!

Joy Fields is another regular to our web site and I very much enjoy reading her posts and sharing her faith! Like Joy, and all of you who have had painful knee operations and joint replacements my hat goes off! Because you seem to take things in your stride and keep on going. I've read the posts about you and your loved ones who have suffered with cancer and other debiliting medical problems, also children with addictions, and other serious problems and can only say you never seem to let these things take you too far down. - Like you all, Sue and I have had some serious problems, she has suffered a knee replacement, and is currently fighting 3rd stage rectal cancer (which I'm thrilled to say is responding beautifully to prayers and effective chemo and radiation) ! The tumor has shrunk over 75% and it looks like she will forgo undergoing surgery entirely. Doctors say all that is left looks like scar tissue and they think Four more months of chemo is all that will be necessary. A biopsy is scheduled for next week. We've had some problems with two of our 5 children but they're coming around... slowly.. - Me? I'm losing my hair, but fortunately not my mind (completely) and am in pretty good health. However many times I'll go upstairs or into the other room and forget the reason (circuit overload) and.I don't hear women's voices very well. Sue calls it selective listening! I'm basically happy, and look forward to seeing many of you again on our 60th reunion. - To tell you my true feelings about BLHS class of 62, they were some of the bst years of my life and those of you I knew well were were the finest people on earth. Even better as adults. Seeing you during our 50th was wonderful and I felt poignant and sincere love there. How I long for those simple days of positive schooling, muscle cars, great music, and the clean fun of our era ! School asemblies, sporting events, cool guys and pretty girls (holy cow they wore dresses back then!) May God bless you all my friends. See you next post.

Pete,

I am willing to organize the 55th reunion with a committee being formed.   It should be a really fun group to work with.  I have 2 volunteers and need several more.

Since I have been gone from Ogden for 45 years and have never attended a BLHS reunion, I need a mentor to call me and answer questions on past ones.

Any volunteers for either of the above?

Way to go Lynn!  I hope it's at a time when I can be there.  I would love to see all of you again.  If there is anything I can do from Sacramento CA let me know. JOY

I thought I posted this earlier today on the Message Forum, but it showed up in the What's New section.  So, I am copying it to here so more people will see it.

Thanks Joy and Dan. There are ways you can help even though you are not here. Ruth Adams is in PA and in on the committee to help.
1. Dan and Joy, I believe you both said you will be here this summer. Give me some dates so we can fit this gathering into your schedules if possible. That goes for anyone else who is out of town but will be here sometime during the summer. The sooner you let us know your preferred dates, the higher up on the priority list you will be. We are planning a whopping big event so everyone should make arrangements to get here.
2. We are planning a computer presentation with pictures of family members so we can see what class members have "produced' since graduation. Each person would get one slide, a collage of family pictures, so we need each class member to send either a prearranged collage or individual pictures to someone who is proficient in putting this together. ANY VOLUNTEERS?
3. I'm thinking that more would come to join us from the outer limits of the USA if they had a bit of help with the plane tickets and a place to stay, plus local transportation. So, we need volunteers to open up their hearts, homes and wallets to contribute this way for 2-3 days. So, if you used to hang out with a friend in HS, contact them to see if their staying at your home would make a difference whether or not they would come.
4. Since I don't play golf, we need someone who does to arrange the golf outing or it won't happen, period.
5. I need some outgoing and funny people to help with the skits (roasts). Come on. Don't be bashful. Even if you are in Bolivia or Timbucktoo, you can help with this one. You all know some juicy tidbits about someone else in the class that would give us all a laugh. So send your ideas on the private response please so everyone doesn't see your ideas before the reunion. Then we need a couple of people to present this.
6. There may be other things that come up with which we will need help so please let us know of your willingness and/or expertise with computers, sound equipment, etc..
7. A tour of the new BLHS would be nice, so hopefully, we can add that as well.

Thanks to all.

Dennis LYNN Taylor

Great Dan.  Thanks for the approximate time frame.

So, Joy, when are you available?

Come on everybody else.  Now is the time to help select dates.  It doesn't matter to me because I am already here.  So let's hear from you out-of-town folks.

1.  I just talked to the Ben Lomond Bagpipe and Drum band advisor (very appropriately named McMillan) as they were preparing to perform across the street from where I work.  They want to perform for us as well but we need dates immediately.

2.  They are not sure if the Bonnie Lassies will be available during the summer.

3.  They will set up a tour for us at the school.  Wow!  Is it ever beautiful.   Architects and Designers these days are much better at putting things in the way they are needed and wanted.  We had only the basic stuff back then and we had to make do, as my mother used to say.

4. It is good to see that Bill Devries has a plaque on the Wall of Fame there. Any other highly successful and influential people in our class?

I have this above my desk:  "Your life is an occasion; rise to it."

                             LET’S GO BOWLING!

When I saw an entry of Facebook on the Remembering Ogden page asking what do you remember about White City Bowling, I answered with the following:

OK! You asked for it, I'll never forget the first time I went bowling at White City. It was with the Y-teen club from the YWCA. We went up and got our shoes, then when we were ready and it was my turn, I picked up that 2 ton ball and proceeded to drop it. It rolled down the ramp and was getting dangerously close to the front door.  I chased it almost out the door before I captured it.  That would have been in about 1958.  I have never forgot how funny it was to just retell that story over the years.

Well Dan, I don't envy you with all that moving around.  And, you do have me beat, since I have only got 21 moves behind me.  I will move one more time after I die.  Since I will be buried in good old Ogden. Of all my moves there was only one that was a sad time, when I had to sell my house after my husband had left.  All the rest have been exciting and fun, especially when I bought the house I will live in for the rest of my life.

My sister will be here from IL in just two weeks, so I am spending a little time practically every day doing things to get ready , cause girls  just wanna,  just wanna,  girls  just wanna have fun... (Cindy Lauper's song).  We will take the costal train down to Oxnard CA, stopping in San Jose to pick up my other sister.  We will be at my nephew's for a few days. which happens to be the same time as the class reunion.  When we get back we will go to a production of Schrek that my darling grand daughter Emily is in.  Another day we will spend in San Francisco, and a day with my Brother in Placerville.  The rest of the time Nadine is here isn't planned yet.

Oh Man! I can't believe how easy it is to get side tracked now days.  I was heading into the kitchen to clean out the refrigerator before going to Costco tomorrow.  I had to pass by my office and here I am.  I better get back to the original plan, because heaven forbid, if my little sister would ever see my home less than perfect.  JOY

Joy, Have fun with your sisters. It's great that you can get together. I am going with my sister (my only sister) to see a cousin in Brigham City today whose son recently died (in his 30s). Family, including extended family, becomes increasingly important to me as I get older. (I'm not OLD yet, just getting older.) And I reallly had to laugh at your last paragraph--about getting side-tracked. I constantly go into a room for something and come out without it because I lost my focus and did something else in there. Best wishes, Karen

Pete and Dan,

I believe at this point in time, most of our classmates will have to ownup to being in a room or two witih no idea why??

On the other more serious and perhaps spiritual topic, (I know, this is the past President of the Class of 62 Parking-Lot-Clan Speaking.  However, LIFE has a way of shaping us as we pass through it.)  I was compleating my 5th year as Dean of Students at the College of Santa Fe, in Santa Fe new Mexico in the Spring of 1976. It had been a wonderful 5 years but I had out grown the job and without a PhD, only an M.Ed in Higher Ed Administration I was limited in Growth. Perhaps for different reasons, like you Dan we decieded to relocate back to Utah and I had decieded to make a Career Change from Higher Ed to Industry. Our family at the time consisted of three girls Sherri age 9, Terri age 7 Debbi age 2 and our first Son David Michael Liptrot Born April 27, 1976 in Santa Fe, NM.

We completed our Move, do it yourself U-Haul Special in early June of 76. David had been given a Clean bill of Health at all his post delivery check-ups, but became ill, and very weak at 4 months.  Ended up at Primary Childerens on the 10th of July and Passed on the 17th of July 1976. My relationship with God did not go well following this event.  I have since tryed to put it all into perspective, we have two additional and wonderful children Jodi Michel and Son Kelly Rich.  So..... 5 still on earth and one in Heaven...14 Grand Children and two Great Grand Sons... We have been Blessed

The Atopsey revieled that David had congenital heart issues that could not be detected with the tecnology at that time and could not have been corrected if it had. Pumping and Recieving Chambers were half as small as they should have been and he simply out grew his ability to supply blood to his vital orgains.

I have lots and lots of empathy for all who have laid to rest their children.  Parents are not suppose to bury their children!  I have finally forgiven myself for getting angry at God, Have accepted the events for what they truly are, blessings.

Now Then!  Lets move on to much Happier things... Like the 55 Reunion at the Park June I have joined the Team trying to put this event together... More info coming via the Web & the mailbox, assuming we have your and your classmates addresses.  Check with your contacts and make sure they are accessing the Web and that they are updating their addresses via the Web or Snail Mail.

See you in June

They say when you have dementia or Alzheimer you can remember things from the past but have short term memory loss.  I don't think I have either one, however today I had an experience that makes me laugh just to think about it.  I went to my eye exam partly to check on my cataract progression.  After my eyes were dilated everything was blurry.  It was like seeing through a fog or smoke for about an hour after.  While I was waiting for the second phase of the exam, and could hardly see, I thought of one of the songs that we sang in Accapella choir in 9th grade at Mound Fort Jr. high.  If any of you were in choir with Mr. Rich you will probably remember "Smoke Gets in Your Eyes".  It makes me laugh to thing that I can remember every word of the song from way back then.  I think it would have been 1958.  The weirdest thing is  I wanted to put something on my to do list, and for the life of me, I don't know what it was.......

Thanks Dan.

I am a bit disappointed that only 3 people have provided pictures for their collage page.  I expect everyone will send them to me the day before, which will make it impossible to complete. Please help me out here folks, comrads, alumns, and friends. Pete's collage is one picture of the entire family (all 200 of them) in a tree.  How fun is that!

Dan, we can have a cake for your birthday 4 days early.  No problem. In fact, we should celebrate everyone's birthday who has had one since the last reunion.  I realize there are a few who don't claim to having birthdays any more like my sister who turned 87 last week.  We can celebrate for you.  Some of us will celebrate any time any where possible.  So, come and lets's have fun.

Lynn

Lynn, et al,

Thank you so much for organizing and promoting a 55th get together.  It should be fun and interesting to see one another again, especially after the update five years ago.

Unfortunately I will not be able to make this event.  My husband, Kim Hartsen, and I have a trip with friends planned long ago that same week. Otherwise I would be there.

I left my postion with the Colorado Department of Public Health four years ago and have been busy with a number of evolving projects and activities.  One of things on the "to do" list was to get some pictures together to send to Lynn since I doubt I am going to get a collage together.   Perhaps that is a skill I need to develop.

Have a great time.

Hi Dan.   1:00 at the school.  I'm excited to see you and meet Jane.  Sure hope more people will decide to come.  Dennis (Lynn) has put a lot into this and Mike!

Dan,

Since you didn't register for the reunion, I thought you would NOT be coming so didn't get the cake.  But there is still time.  Anyone else out there, if you can't get the registration to go through on this web site, please contact Pete Belliston or me, glyco4life@gmail.com, to get registered so we know how much meat (and cake) to get.

I'm still waiting for more pictures and or collages to ad to the show.   Change of instructions for this:  Please send immediately to glyco4life@gmail.com.

Also, if possible, bring a cushion or lawn chairs since the benches are hard metal.

Thanks,

Lynn

Just want to give a special THANK YOU to Dennis and Mike!!   Dennis jumped in to plan this reunion even though for a while it looked like he was on his own.  Thanks to Mike for jumping in.   These guys put a lot into preparing.  It was a great day!!  The poor gal that was trying to give us a guided tour of the school had a hard time getting our attention because we were too excited to visit with old friends. laugh .  The park turned out to be a great place to mingle.  I loved visiting with so many of you folks, but as Dan said there was not enough time to talk to everyone even though we had the whole afternoon.  I regret missing many people that I could have spent hours with.   Thanks to all who came!!!!!  Sure hope we all meet again at 60smiley                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                           AND!!!!!!                                                                                             a GIANT THANKS  to Pete and Karen for the web site and all that computer "stuff" they do

Since I couldn't find a way to let the producers of What would you do?know my feelings, I will just share my thoughts here. I was watching tonights episode and in the show a yourg teenager told his parents he was gay while sitting in a restaurant. Of course the family was Mormon. One of the clips showed a family "Sister wives" one of the teenage girls said she was gay. The issue I have is that they were called a Mormon family. No wonder so many people think we practice plural marriage. I don't want to judge or condemn anyone.

OH Man; I am totally done in. Emily came and spent the night with me and she was determined to stay up ALL night. We had so much fun talking about what ever she wanted to talk about. She asked me every minute " Grandma what time is it?" Is it midnight? I said "almost" Then she would tell me what time it was. It was after midnight when she finally conked out. We had breakfast on the patio and then pruned the bush in the front yard. She was a delight to have over. Now I am ready to colapse until time to go to my dentist appt. This was originaly posted on facebook in 2014.  Emily is my youngest grandchild and is still a delight.  Grandchildren are our gift for not killing our children when they were teenagers.

Oh my word, I just got my computer back from the Geek squad.  It's only 2 years old and it died.  It's a HP Pavillion 23 all in one.  Everything from May on to now is gone from this web site.  The last entry in the message forum was posted by Lynn Taylor before the reunion.  Even though everything was backed up on an external hard drive, I still can't open or print my documents, can't get into excel and so on and so forth.  It's like having your right arm cut off to be without a computer.  Boo Hoo!  Thankfully I have been using my I-pad.

Some better news, I had my eye surgery two weeks ago on my left eye and the vision has greatly improved.  I will have the right eye done on Sept. 8th.  Maybe then I will be able to drive at night again. By the way my knee has healed since my knee replacement.   Man! all this just because we are getting old.

Now if we can just endure the 109 degree heat.  YIPPIE! Summer is almost over and we can enjoy the beautiful fall weather, and then the refreshing winter.  Of course I love the rain and NO snow here in CA.

Yes Dan, it is cataracts.

I hope your new house in Texas is dry and not flooded.  My son is in El Paso which is HOT and dry.

Back with the Geek Squad.  After 6 hours with them yesterday, I am getting back with them again today.  There are still several issues with the computer.  They are going to learn to hate me, because I am going to keep on their case until it's back to what it was before this whole mess.  Well kids, this isn't getting the work done.  So I hope all of you are in good health and having a fabulous day.  JOY

Is there a list of classmare's we have lost?  I would like to see it.  I don't know how to put on a new picture on my profile.  Still married I walk and play pickel ball.  It is a lot of fun.  We meet at Marshal White on Tuesday, Thursday's, and Friday from noon until three.  It is good excercise and we all like the social.  I think I have figured out the system.  We will go to adult groups and do our flag presentation that we do in the schools.  American Warriors in Action is made up of veterans and their wives we teach about the flag amd tje pledge of alliance.
