Oh! So sorry to hear this.  Jerry always had a big smile, and lightened the mood in every situation.  A great guy!  May he rest in peace.

Thanks for posting, Gary.

Is it just me or does it seem like there are more people like this now, than 50 years ago?

"They Walk Among Us:

It's still happening!

I was at the checkout of a local Walmart. The cashier rang up $46.64 charges. I gave her a fifty-dollar bill. She gave me back $46.64. I gave the money back to her and told her that she had made a mistake in MY favor. She became indignant and informed me she was educated and knew what she was doing, and she returned the money again. I gave her the money back -- same scenario! I departed the store with the $46.64.

They Walk Among Us! .....

I walked into a Starbucks with a buy-one-get-one-free coupon for a Grande Latte. I handed it to the girl and she looked over at a little chalkboard that said 'buy one-get one free.' "They're already buy-one- get-one-free," she said, "so I guess they're both free." She handed me my free lattes, and I walked out the door.

They Walk Among Us! .....

One day I was walking down the beach with some friends, when one of them shouted, "Look at that dead bird!"

Someone looked up at the sky and asked, "Where?"

They Walk Among Us! .....

While looking at a house, my brother asked the real estate agent which direction was north; because, he explained,

he didn't want the sun waking him up every morning. She asked, "Does the sun rise in the north?" When my brother explained that the sun rises in the East, and has for sometime; she shook her head and said, "Oh I don't keep up with all that stuff."

They Walk Among Us!! .....

I used to work in technical support for a 24/7 call center.  One day I got a call from an individual who asked what hours the call center was open. I told him, "The number you dialed is open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week." He responded, "Is that Eastern or Pacific time?" Wanting to end the call quickly, I said, "Uh, Pacific."';

They Walk Among Us!

.....My sister has a lifesaving tool in her car designed to cut through a seat belt if she gets trapped. She keeps it in the trunk.

They Walk Among Us! .....

My friends and I went out to buy beer and noticed that the cases were discounted 10%.

Since it was a big party, we bought two cases. The cashier multiplied two times 10% and gave us a 20% discount.

They Walk Among Us! .....

I couldn't find my luggage at the airport baggage area, so I went to the lost luggage office and told the woman there that my bags never showed up. She smiled and told me not to worry because she was a trained professional, and I was in good hands. "Now," she asked me, "has your plane arrived yet?" So I replied, "No Ma'am, The Pilot told us we're circling the airport, 3rd in line to land."

They Walk Among Us! .....

While working at a pizza place, I observed a man ordering a small pizza to go. He appeared to be alone, and the cook asked him if he would like it cut into four pieces or six. He thought about it for some time before responding.

"Just cut it into four pieces. I don't think I'm hungry enough to eat six pieces."

Yep, they walk among us! ""

I've heard a few of these but the Walmart and the east are really good. Thanks again Dan

Some of my own personal:

            “They Walk Among Us”

I went subway and asked the server for “12in Tuna on Parmesan Bread”

Her reply: “We don’t have 12 inch; only 6 inch and Foot Long!”

When I was doing IT work for Herridge & Associates; I got an early morning call from the receptionist telling me the network was down; she had come in to print some documents for a presentation Alita had scheduled that day. I stumbled out of bed and drove to the office. When I walked in the door; ****** informed me she was trying to print on Jan’s computer and it wouldn’t connect. I walked into Jan’s office and immediately detected the problem. I said to ******“the reason you can’t print on Jan’s computer is Jan’s computer is not turned on!” I stood there waiting for Jan’s computer to boot up and it hit me “why are you trying to print to Jan’s computer instead of your own?”

Her answer: “She has better paper in hers”

I submitted this a Microsoft contest for “Best IT Stories” and got Runner-Up award!

Very good, Tod --thanks.

Your 12 inch experience reminded me of a Dad's joke:   Why aren't your ear lobes 12 inches long?  Because, if they were they'd be a foot!

I will see you at the cemetery I'll be at my nephews house for dinner. Jerry touched many lives and was always ready to help you.

I was at Jerry Hill's funeral service Monday April 14th and was gratified to see a large crowd there; which included my old friend Gary Acker. David Spinden not only conducted the entire funeral service but he organized everything as well. David asked Kirk Butterfield to take a major roll in the service not only with prayers, but Kirk dedicated Jerry's grave as well. -- I couldn't resist teasing Kirk about the fact we all used to call him "Red" but now,  because his hair is almost pure pure white, we would have to change his nickname to "White". He was not amused. -- After David read the Eulogy a tall, distinguished looking man (forgot his name) came up front and played "Amazing Grace" on his Harmonica. It was beautifully done and very appropriate! -- David Spinden, although he mentioned being nervous, didn't appear to be and all in all did a great job conducting. -- I then gave a talk very similar to one I gave at Kenny Frew's funeral a few weeks previously. And afterwards received several appreciation comments. -- My talk at Jerry's sevvice extolled his many accomplishments as a father, fireman, and cashier at Walmart and then ended with a vrery abreviated discourse on the plan of salvation. I would like to tell you that I received a  compliment or a positive word for the talk, but no one said anything to me except my brother Thomas, his wife Vicki. and one sharp looking African American gentleman in his comments when David opened the meeting for audiance participation. -- I'm a sensitive guy and must admit it hurt. Then again, I must have offended the audiance. I sure as heck didn't mean to. -- I had given Jerry many accolades of praise in the talk. I liked the guy, we weren't close but then Jerry knew everyone in the school. I might be over reacting here.

By the way Dan Hutchison, Like Tod and Gary and Karen,  I also love your comments and occasional jokes and comic cartoons. Please keep the coming!

Thank you Steve.  I would liked to have  heard your eulogy.  If anyone was bothered by your comments, it shows the lack of maturity, tolerance and understanding.  Afterall  they live in the heart of the LDS Church.  Steve I wouldn't give it another thought.  I know there are several of our classmates who do not share our faith, but again. tolerance shows maturity and open mindedness.  I personally, compliment anyone who loves God, and Jesus Christ.  As a Christian, we all have a comforting anchor for our lives.  After all. we are all God's children.

May God bless you all.

Thanks so much Dan! You're a God send. -- Because I worked on our class reunion and the 80th B-Day celebration, I got to know Dave Hansen very well. What a stand up guy he is! Apparently he and a few other classmates meet once or sometimes twice at the Chuck O Rama in SLC every month, and they invited me to join in when I can. I'm really looking forward to it, because like you, I want to keep the spirit of the class of 1962 alive in our hearts. -- It was truly a special class with some very neat people in the ranks. -- Next time you and your sweetheart are in Utah, please come and see Sue and I. I've built a fully furnished 2 bed room apartment out back of my hourse for you to stay in. (I built it to accomodate our children and their families when they come to visit. I don't rent it out.) I'd really love to meet your wife, I'm sure she's a five star female! Anyway, sincerely, my door is wide open for you big guy. I want to hear all about your adventures with the CIA. Wow! You and Val Lasko; really did something with your lives...See you soon, Steve.

Steve you did a fine job at the funeral alongside Dave and Kurt "red " Butterfield. If anyone was offended I don't know what it could be. A big thank you is all I can say!

Steve, your over effusive remarks are much more than I deserve, but I thank you profusely.

I'm trying to convince my wife to make a trip to Utah.. She suffers tremendously from anxiety, driving  on interstate fast moving traffic.  We go most place on the back roads; even then she gets very nervous.  Honestly it's not my driving -- LOL

Gary, it was great to hear from you and also great to see you at Jerry Hill's memorial service! Thank you so much for your supportive comments about my talk, I was feeling a little off balance during the talk because when I began to speak about the plan of salvation, Jerry's wife visibly turned her head away, sort of like I'd let a fart or something...I'm fully aware that any talk about religion can be a touchy subject. Perhaps I'm being a bit too sensitive here, but I genuinely like people and don't like being shunned or disliked. But then, that's true of all of us. --Personally I think people and the lives they have led are fascinating. I also brlieve in God and His only begotten Son. Thank heaven for what Christ did in our behalf. - We all sin, but we all can be forgiven, and not just once but every time we screw up and then acknowledge it, and go to Him. -- As I said in my talk, Jerry Hill is currently in Paradise. He's in a place of learning and advancement. Growing up and being kicked from piller to post by the different fathers that came and went from his life, must have been tough. But as I mentioned, Jerry wasn't bitter about his upbringing. He was a warm and friendly guy, and he loved Sharon heart and sole....

Dan, I also have to commend you for your support of our class and this publication. I know several people read it, like Karen and Pete Belliston and Susan Stizer, and at our next reunion, the 65th, I'm gonna' mention that it would be great if more classmates joined in. As I've mentioned before, we had a neat group of people in our class of "62".

Gary, let's get together for a hamburger or bite of breakfast sometime soon. - Lucky for me my brothers are taking me to Flaming Gorge fishing later this week. Then next week me and my son Joshua are driving to Houston for 10 days or so. But when I get back I'd sure like to bend and elbow with you!

All the best men, Steve Nielsen

Thanks again gentlemen.  I'm always pleased to see the participation.

Ferron, I'm sorry to hear you're having more health issues.  Can you share some with us?  I'm always interestd to hear about our classmates -- and as we age, we all have some health issues.  I'll sure keep you in my prayers.  I can speak, or testify of the power of prayer.  It has sure worked in my life.  I think prayers in numbers seems to have some added impact as well.

I hope a bunch of our classmates wish Clara Profaizer (Taylor) a happy birthday.  She is indeed a special lady..

Clara Profaizer (Taylor)

Hey Dan -- Thank you for the Birthday Wishes....... I am now one year older than I was yesterday, but the funny thing is that I only feel one day older than I did yesterday.  So, I guess those birthdays don't mean much if we look at it logically or in perspective.

04/28/25 06:16 PM #1866

Yes!   Very good Clara -- I'm still 35.
