Joined the Navy two months after being graduated from high school, and spent 4-1/2 years on active duty. I spent 3-1/2 years aboard a Heavy Cruiser, U.S.S. Saint Paul CA-73. We made one trip to Viet Nam. My rank and rating was a Radioman 2nd class (E-5) at discharge.

My first year out of the Navy was like a fish out of water (pun intended). I worked at five different, very good jobs, finally I went to work for the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA).

Worked for the CIA from September 16, 1968 until November 30th 1994; living in nine different countries for a minimum of two years, and probably visited or worked in approx. 30 more countries. After retirement, moved to Bolivia in December 1994, opened a restaurant "the Hutch" April 1995. Moved to San Antonio Texas, November 1996. Moved to Utah November 1998. Moved back to Bolivia November 2002, opened a larger restaurant in La Paz, along with a bakery. Due to political problems, I opted to close the restaurant as a precaution and safety of my customers and employees, and mostly for my safety! On 15 October 2014, we moved to Cochabamba, Bolivia. On 8 May 2017, I traveled with my dog Sam to Miami, then drove to New Braunfels, Texas, where my wife joined me a month later. My 28th move, and after logging over a million miles of flying, I think we'll settle down now. We like Texas very much.
