Robert Irwin Jonas

February 12, 1944 ~ March 23, 2019

Robert Irwin Jonas, age 75, passed away on March 23, 2019 of a heart attack. He was born on February 12, 1944 in Logan, Utah, the son of Irwin John and Mary Popwitz Jonas Coley. He was raised and educated in Utah; a graduate of Ben Lomond High School and attended Weber State College.

On January 26, 1965, Robert married Janet Elane Aeschlimann in Malad, Idaho.

Robert was an outdoors man and enjoyed life. He was a member of the First Christian Church. He retired from U.D.O.T.

Surviving are his wife of Roy, Utah; brother Stephen G. (Julie) Coley of West Haven; sister, Sandra (Loran) Schnaidt of St. Louis, Missouri; several nieces and nephews; and his in-laws, Preston Fowers and Marie Aeschlimann, Jack Stonehocker, Richard and ADonna Lee Aeschlimann, Walt and Sallie Abbott, and Shirley Larson. He was preceded in death by his father, who died in Normandy, France in 1944 while serving as a Sergeant in the US Army; son, Robert Irwin Jonas II; his mother and step-father, and brother.

Graveside services will be held on Tuesday, April 2, 2019 at 11 a.m. at Lindquist’s Washington Heights Memorial Park, 4500 Washington Blvd. Friends may visit with family on Tuesday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at Lindquist’s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Primary Children’s Medical center in Salt Lake City, Shriner’s Hospital in Salt Lake City or a charity of your choice.
