As I remember, Steve Rawson was killed in a car accident involving him and Robert Porter. It was reported that the car they were in hit a metal pole near Mound Fort Junior High School so hard that the taught wires connecting to a pole across the street, caused that pole to bend as well as the one they hit. The event was a terrible tragedy; For months on end, Ben Lomond students morned the loss of Steve and two very promising teenagers.
Steve and Robert were killed on 24th street ogden in Steve,s Corvet. They hit a parked truck very hard! They were two of the hardest of all the people we lost. Two great guy,s!
Steve, along with Bob Porter, were killed when Bob lost control of his Corvette while racing another friend on his motorcycle.It happend in the 800 block of 24th Street. The car hit a parked truck and glanced into a tree. They had been drinking at a bar on Riverdale Road earlier that evening.
I was on a mountain climbing trip in Idaho when this happened. Steve's parents had the Idaho State Police try to contact me but they were unsccessful. Steve had been my best friend for a long time and they considered me part of their extended family. Needless to say; I was devastated.
