Well, let's see . . . since high school, I got my bachelor's degree in English from the University of Nebraska. And since we all know how many exciting career opportunities are open to English majors (I was told at the time that I could interview for a mangerial position at Sutherland Lumber), I went on to graduate school and got a Masters degree in public communication from The American University in Washington D.C. I worked in public relations for two years out in D.C., the highlight of which being my phone conversation with Neil Armstrong (who called to extend his regrets that he could not attend a launch party for one of our clients). Upon discovering that I truly hated working in public relations (phone conversation with Neil Armstrong notwithstanding) I came back to the midwest and got a law degree from Washington University in St. Louis. After that, I clerked two years at the Missouri Supreme Court and since then have been an assistant attorney general in Missouri, representing the state in felony criminal appeals. So, I spend most of my days reading and writing about murderers and rapists and drug dealers and dog abusers and other fun people who lead lives the rest of us can only dream about. I am happy to report that no classmates' names have ever come up in any of my cases. So apparently everyone is either law-abiding or limiting their crime sprees to within the State of Nebraska.
And yes, I still play trombone. I play in the Jefferson City Symphony Orchestra -- which mostly consists of counting rests because trombones really don't play nearly as much in orchestral music as they do in marching band. And I am choir director at my parish, where I also cantor and play piano, and serve as president of the parish council.
So that's pretty much it then.
