Charlie and I joined the Marines together, we went to boot camp together and then got split up when we were sent to VietNam. He recieved a purple heart for injuries recieved in battle. He was a great guy, we hung out for a short time after returning to Omaha. I didnt like the cold and made the move to Florida, we lost contact over the years however I did visit him on one of my rare visits back home during a class reunion. He still lived in the same house I remember him showing me the coolest motorcycle he had, a nice harley panhead! We always had neat cars back in the day! May he find peace with our heavely father. Sempter FI! Note, if any family members want to contact me I can be reached at 404-769-5866, or hforsch@bellsouth.net I have saved a great picture of him in his uniform.

Hey Howie -

Absolutely, I knew Charlie - great guy - although I must confess, I did not know all the well. Mostly we'd hang on the 10 meter board in Peony, (and Art too - he was always the best).  Somehow, I thought Charlie and gone into the Corps with Allen Woods.  I never saw either one of those guys after Tech.  I knew Al a little more, as he & I hung out BEFORE Tech.  But as I say, never saw those guys for any of our Class '64 reunions. If fact, I'd thought that maybe Al might've taken off, and gone back to Florida, as he had been born there.  I'm so sorry for your loss - I'm putting a prayer of comfort to all of those that knew Charlie.  Knowin' he was a super guy - always was.  Purple Heart.  Wow.

Many blessings...................Bobby Jones
