Robert "Bob" J. Janousek was born February 5, 1928 to Edward and Agnes Janousek in Omaha, NE. The youngest of 5 children, Bob grew up with the family floral business at 33rd and Parker St. Bob graduated from Technical High in 1946. On January 2, 1951 at the age of 22, he was drafted into the U.S. Army and served in Korea with the 9th Infantry. On September 29, 1951, during the battle of Heartbreak Ridge, he suffered a severe head injury and was awarded the Purple Heart. Bob met his wife at a Polka dance in 1957 at the Legion Club in Omaha. They were married on September 12, 1959 and had 4 sons. Along with working in the family floral business, Bob also worked at Storz Brewing and later retired from the General Services Administration. In his later years, he loved gardening, Polka music, watching Creighton basketball and baseball, and most of all being with his family. He was preceded in death by his parents, sister Alice Sterba, and brothers, John, Bill and Ervin Janousek. He is survived by his devoted wife of 56 years Geraldine "Gerry"; sons, John, Tom (Traci), Martin, Rob (Rose); grandson Harrison; many nieces, nephews and friends. SERVICES Saturday, 10am at St. Margaret Mary Church. Interment Calvary Cemetery. VISITATION Friday starting at 5:30pm with Wake Service at 7pm at the John A. Gentleman 72nd St. Chapel.
