Thick Chu Huey, of Omaha, NE, passed away on Tuesday, February 12, 2019. He was born on May 12, 1934 in Guangzhou (Canton) China to the late Chung Hoi and Sam Nui Huey. Preceded in death by his wife of 54 years, Sun Ying Huey; and son-in-law, Frank Leong. Survived by children, Way (Diana), Nina, Ruby (Stan Butac), Judy, Terry (Catrina), Gerry (Pearl) & Tommy (Phyllis) Huey; 17 grandchildren, Lara (Adam) Bichsel, Ben (Renee) Huey, Zach and Ashlyn Huey; Kyle and Kameron Leong; Justin, Karah and Jeffrey Butac; Tyler, Rylee and Devyn Huey; Leland, Alex and Audrey Huey; Madelyn and Mackenzie Huey; six great-grandchildren, Parker, Carson, Camryn and Landry Bichsel; Benson and Lauren Huey; sister, Connie Wong. Thick Chu immigrated to the U.S. in 1950 at the age of 16 and attended Technical High School prior to serving in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. After his discharge, he worked as a chef at multiple restaurants before opening his own establishment, Chu's Chop Suey House, in 1964. Thick Chu retired after 40 years, in 2004. During his retirement he enjoyed his time at the Ameristar Casino. We would like to thank the staff at Ameristar Casino and CHI Bergan Mercy Hospital for the loving care they provided to our father. FUNERAL SERVICE: Saturday, 10am, at the 72nd Street Chapel with interment in Evergreen Cemetery. VISITATION with the family Friday, 5-7pm, at the 72nd Street Chapel. In lieu of flowers, the family prefers memorials to the Fred and Pamela Buffett Cancer Center at Nebraska Medicine. John A.
