This is where you all can leave suggestions about locations for the reunion as well as any ideas. So far, we have made no decisions. Silk Mill Grille has been suggested for a location and most people I have talked to think the fall would be a good time to have the reunion. Give us suggestions as well for the price range for tickets for the event. Depending on what we decide is a good range for tickets, the location will be decided accordingly.

At this time the only place that I can think of that is in Orange that would possibly work for the reunion would be Holiday Inn Express, however they don't have a resturant in the building so the reunion would have to be catered. Other than that depending on how many people we have we could possibly book the Silk Mill Grill's bar area. If they will let us have the entire area. Those are just a few idea's thrown out there.

Just an idea...but what about Shenandoah Crossing's? They do have the hotel/cabins that out of towners could stay in...they also have catering/rest. available.

Hey Class of 1998!
I was thinking the same thing as Cristy about Silk Mill, I just called and they do have a banquet room but the owner is away right now, so we could get a price for rental and menu later on. Also if looking for places to stay, Culpeper has a lot of new hotels going up right now, and will be ready by this summer. I also mentioned to Rhea about thinking to have the reunion in November, I don't know what everyone's thoughts are on that. I was thinking we could get together at the Montpelier horse races and then get together for dinner that evening. What are your thoughts on that?

Megan has done some checking into Silk Mill as well and I don't know all the details but Doc Johnson from our class works as a bartender there and we were hoping he might be able to work with us if we choose to do it there. She got Johnnys mom's information and was going to contact her to get pricing.

The other thing Dawn mentioned was hotels and I think it would be a good idea to have a couple people talk to them and see if we can get a block on rooms at a discounted price. Like people do with weddings.

The only thing I was recently thinking about the races weekend is that is a huge weekend for this area and people may have problems getting hotels and we may have a difficult time booking a location to actually have the reunion. Maybe a less commercial weekend would be easier but I do realize a lot of people do come in town so what do you think? Fall still sounds best to me though.

Also the class of 1968 are planning their reunion as well and the high school is going to let me know what date they pick. Sorry it is taking a long time to post all the names, I still haven't gotten the list yet in the mail so I may have to go pick it up.

Keep the opinions coming so we can get more ideas and if you strongly feel a place would be good go ahead and get price information.

I agree with Rhea about having the reunion on Race weekend. I think that the County will be way to busy, and I also think that there is a certain danger factor having the Reunion that weekend, there will be a whole lot of DRUNKS on the road that night in Orange County. It is not worth the risk. I posted on my information where I work and I remember last year after the Races we were extremely busy because of the alcohol that was consummed at Montpelier for that occasion. I think Fall of the year is a wonderful time to have the Reunion just not that day.
I think that asking " Doc " about Silk Mill and trying to get a block of rooms at Holiday Inn is a great idea.

Hello Everyone,
I have not checked into the Silk Mill yet, but I am sure they would welcome us. Doc does not work there but his wife does and I will try and contact the owner this weekend. I know they have a room they can block off. I was just thinking it would be an easy way to get together and then if people wanted a beverage then they could just go to the bar to get it on their own.
I thought a good time would possibly be the Friday or Saturday after Thanksgiving. People would already be in town or the reunion could bring people home that may not have been coming. The only thing with that weekend would be checking to see what day/night the Virginia vs. Virginia Tech game was. Lord knows we would not want to come between people and that game.
These are just thoughts and have a great day.
