I like the idea of having our reunion in the fall. However, The races would be a hard weekend to find a nice place to stay for people having to travel. Silk Mill sounds Cool!

I too like the idea of getting together in the fall but we all know how busy things get in Orange around the races. It would definately be in our best interests if we do decide that weekend to get together that we reserve a block of rooms at Holiday Inn, if we can.

Silk Mill sounds great.

Here's an idea... How about having the reunion at one of the local wineries!!! They're beautiful in the fall and have space to accomodate everyone and some will cater dinner. Just a thought!!

Hey Class of 1998!
There is also a room that is available at the new public office building on route 20. This is were the town employees have their Christmas party and stuff. They rent it out.
Spome people in our class may not drive, so for them it maybe easier if it was local. I have seen alot of people around here that don't drive.

I love Erick's idea of having the reunion at one of the local vineyards. Also you may want to check some of the Bed & Breakfast Inns around the area. Many times they have a large room and places people could stay for the night.

Great idea using a winery as our reunion venue! Just a thought -- my mom works in the Keswick Vineyards tasting room and I was thinking they might be a little cheaper than using the Palladio (which starts at $55 a person sans wine) or similar venue. Plus, their wines are fantastic! I organized a friend's birthday party there last year and it was really nice. I can look into this if there is enough interest. Let me know!

Hey c/o 98...
I am happy to say I am back in VA and have been for awhile now. It has been great catching up with everyone too. I am not sure the fall is a good time to do the reunion since there will be people who have children that will be travelling in from out of town. If we want maximum partiipation, we need to look at that. A lot of our classmates have moved to other states and have children in school. We also have a lot of military members and they are usually offered block leave in the summer months and December. Just a suggestion: have the reunion during the summer months to accomodate our out of towners and military personnel. Hope everyone is well.

Hey everyone! I love that we have this site to catch up on what everyone has been doing since school. I was reading everyone's comments and I love the idea of doing it at a winery. That would be cool. I would like to see the reunion in the summertime though. Me and Elan Pfalzgraf will be flying in from Utah with my kids and I can't pull them out of school for 8-10 days during the school year. It's too expensive to fly to VA from UT for a weekend, so when we come into town it's usually for an extended visit. It would be better for me and Elan if we could do it in the summer. Is anyone else in the same boat? Another idea would be maybe schedule a day for the families, like a picnic or something, so we can meet all our classmates kids and spouses. It can be done earlier in the day or the day before the reunion. Anyway, can't wait to see everybody!

Hey everyone! I'm so excited to see all of you for our 10 year reunion :) And I love the idea of having it during the Summer months at a local vineyard. Sounds like a perfect atmosphere for everyone to get together and for family and friends time. Not sure if we could do a picnic style gathering in the afternoon for everyone (with kids included) and then either later that night or the next night have a dinner set up for the class and there significant other (while the kids are at the baby-sitters).

hey everyone, it so nice to come here and see how everyone is doing! I have been waiting for my chance to be able to travel to VA and for this I want to be able to come! I agree that the SUMMER TIME is the best time....100%. I haven't been to Orange in over 10 years,so I am not gonna be good about coming up with a location, so whatever we decide on would be perfect for me and dale....how about the weekend of July 4th????

Hello All,
I have not contacted the the Silk Mill about using their big room. I think the winery idea is great I can check some of the surrounding vineyards. Jessica if you want to find out how much it would be to do something at Keswick vineyards that would be great. So I guess we will just wait and see how much different places are and then choose.
As far as the date goes I guess we just need to choose summer or fall.

Hey Everyone-
These are not suggestions more like FYI. I decided to check on a couple places just to see how much they were. The first was Stonefire Station in Barboursville, it would be $1500 for the space, tables and chairs. They have a prep kitchen and no dance floor is required (if we were thinking of getting one)because the floor is stained concrete. I also decided to check out Montpelier, BIG mistake its expensive, they have a smaller room that holds 120 people max without a dance floor. Also, I reserved some rooms at the Holiday Inn Express for a wedding and the rate for the block rooms was $119/night plus tax per room.

I will post a quick survey tonight regarding a date. Options will be late summer (July or August) or fall (Sept or Oct). I don't think we will be able to do it any sooner as there is still major planning to do and we need to give people plenty of notice for travel. Everyone can vote once and from here we will pick a few weekend choices. Keep in mind that location my override the date if we are limited with options. Jessica please check on Keswick, that may work great!

Hi all! Even though I am still local, I have been terrible about keeping in touch with everyone & looking forward to the reunion. I worked in event planning for the past six years, so I will be happy to assist where needed. One idea is putting up a tent at a local B&B (out-of-towners could stay on-site). I planned an event at Stonefire Station. The venue is very pretty and clean with an outdoor area as well, but it's in the middle of nowhere (no hotels close by) and it can get expensive. I have not worked with a local winery, but that's a great idea. There are also the local fire company banquet halls. Most are dingy/boring but certainly inexpensive and can be decorated quite nice with some effort. I also like the Silk Mill idea. The Toliver House in Gordonsville may be another option (although I don't think they have a large area, since it is a former house it is mostly smaller rooms).

I think the Silk Mill or wineries sounds great. I am happy to make any calls that need to be made or help in any other way. Can't wait! Don't think I could come if it is in the summer, so I vote for Fall...

You guys need to hurry up and choose a date, it's less than 3 months away... I don't know about other people, but I have stripping gigs I need to plan in advance and you guys are going to cost me some money.

It's already June... what's up with the date? I'm here (and so are about 50 others) but a lot of people will have to come in from out of town...plane tickets aren't getting any cheaper. Let's get a date locked in sooner than later...can't wait to see everyone!

I'm excited we have a place and date! I know it has been a struggle coming up with a place and I hope it works for all of you guys! See you soon, have a great summer.

That was so much fun! I didn't feel like it was enough time to catch up with everyone. So when are we doing it again? Two,Five,Ten years? The pictures were great, why wasn't I dancing?
