Carol A. Kiefer, 61, of Emmaus, formerly of Blue Bell, PA and Los Gatos, CA, died June 23, 2013 in her home. Born in Allentown, she was a daughter of Virginia L. (Olberding) Kiefer and the late Stephen H. Kiefer. She graduated from Parkland High School and received a B.S. degree in Computer Science from Penn State University. Carol, a software engineer, loved her work in various aspects of the computer field over a 27-year career with Digital Equipment Corporation, Touch Communications, Oracle Corporation, and Giavaneers. She felt a great affinity for the Silicon Valley. Among her special joys was sailing on San Francisco Bay, planning and building her beautiful flower gardens at her home in the Santa Cruz Mountains, and going for long runs with her Golden Retriever dogs. Although she lived in the Lehigh Valley area for the past seven years, Carol always considered herself a California Girl. Scofield and husband, Donald, Columbia, SC; niece, Allison Kiefer, Washington, D.C. area; aunts; cousins; many friends, all who loved her. -
