A 70th party would be great and help us keep in touch!  We had a wonderful time this past weekend.

So a 70th birthday party in 2019 seems to be shaping up.  I know it's difficult to find a time that works for everyone.  Beverly Brazell did get to celebrate her birthday with a hundred of her closest ORHS friends.  And Charles Dent out in California had a big wedding anniversary that weekend.  But maybe move the event to a different weekend.  It does get hot Orlando in July and August.  Then hurricane season kicks in.  May is often problematic with graduations/weddings/Mother's Day, etc.  February or March?  October?  Thoughts?

Many thanks to Richard and Mary Hedrick Hull for hosting a delightful gathering honoring beloved Oak Ridge High School English teacher, Mrs. Leora Holt Shermerhorn. Guests were from ORHS classes of 1966 and 1967. Group photo includes Dee Ann Daniels, Mary Hull, Sharon Tyler Lowen, Dawne Hall Miles, Jane Mixner Barry, Marsha Dragstedt Ferguson, Suzanne Poupeney Lincoln, Judy Bedard Edge,  Linell Wootton Ela, and Mary Jo Golding Peoples, surrounding Mrs. Schermerhorn (seated). We are so grateful for her long-lasting influence, as most of us became educators also.

I am really sad to hear about the loss of Jim Hoover.  "Hoovie" played football with us at Oak Ridge and was an excellent athlete and star, along with Mark Arnold, on the swim team.  Jim was my roommate our Freshman year at U. of Florida and we both joined the Fraternity of Phi Gamma Delta, and we shared many memorable times in those formative years. I know he joined the Navy after college and served, no doubt, with distinction. My condolances to his family and friends, we have lost one of our finest classmates!
