I left Las Plumas during winter break in 1988 and moved to Minnesota to live with my dad. I never even had a chance to clean out my lockers! I left behind some wonderful friends and have always felt regret that I did not get to say goodbye to so many people.
I was going to move back to Oroville at the end of the school year because I hated Minnesota so much, but I never got around to leaving!
The craziest thing I remember is Driver's Ed. I can't remember the teacher's name, but it was Dave something. He told me, "Never swerve to avoid hitting an animal; you just run that mother over!" Then he told me a story about a girl who swerved to miss hitting an animal and ended up hitting a pole instead. I guess she should've listened to his advice!
