Ted passed away on Tuesday, October 11, 2016 at St. Michael's Hospital. Beloved husband of Christine Sabourin, loving dad of Tanya (Edward Fitchett) and proud and loving granddaddy of his cherished Haydyn. He will be greatly missed by his brother Phil (Ruth) and their family, his sisters-in-law Jocelyne Sabourin and Carmen Sabourin (Pierre Therrien) and his extended family in Montreal. Also left to mourn him are his close friends, Ernie Muhlstock and Marilyn Myers.
Ted's illness took him on a journey where he continued to meet and engage with many people and was an inspiration to so many. All of his friends, business and community connections and family around North America will continue to remember his love of life.
Ted (Teddy for me) was unique in the 60s and continued to his own man throughout his life. One never knew what colourful wardrobe he would be wearing, intended I'm sure to make you laugh and feel good. He would have made a great actor. He took a deep, personal interest in everyone and was beyond generous. I cherish my memories dancing the cha-cha with Teddy at Outremont or seeing him on stage dressed as Bella Friedman-Kotler. He was everyone's friend. He took great pride in his daughter, Tanya and his adorable grand-daughter. He remained in love with his wife Christine. He was a lucky man.
Teddy fought a courageous battle. I had a few email chats with him after the reunion in 2013. He had such a positive outlook about life taking continuous medical challenges head on. While in high school, we had a connection because my mom had known his mom. I'm not sure if he really remembered me, but I certainly remembered Teddy. He had many friends and a very outgoing (flamboyant) personality.
Teddy showed up at our women's reunions when contacted by Ginny. He was such a special person and my heart goes out to his family and friends. May his memory be a blessing and bring solace to all whose lives he touched.
Your verve, humour and love of life is the legacy you leave to us who knew and loved you. My mind turns to the Variety Shows and you dressed as Bella! The world was a better place with you in it and you will be missed, but never forgotten.
