Hi fellow classmates................I have been trying to find out who has the master list of email addresses...................yoo hoo out there.......I have heard that many people don't want to lose connections and it would be easier to have a page of email addresses than go after each classmate.  what do you say???????............Nafi Cohn Share

Lynn Rak (Mendelssohn)

I was saddened to read the passing of Molly Abramovitch. She is one classmate that I also remembered from elementary school. In fact our parents knew each other as well. My deep sympathy is extended to her beloved family and may her memory be  for a blessing.

Having moved away from Montreal in 1971 I lost contact with all but a few friends. I did, however, have the opportunity to have lunch in Boca Raton with several of my fellow Outremont-mates and perhaps we can repeat this enjoyable afternoon.

With best regards to all, Lynn Rak Mendelssohn

Hi everybody,

It sure hit close to home when I read about Haim Kotler, and his very sad & untimely death. I must say that  the loss of Molly and Haim since our reunion has only reinforced the fact that we really have to appreciate every single moment... To all my OHS friends.... make sure that you grab onto the brass ring and fly with it.... there's no time like the present.

I wish you all a most happy & very very healthy winter.,

I am heading south in the next few days, and won't be back until the spring. ( I really AM very fortunate). However, I will still have my lap top in tow, and look forward to keeping in touch with you.

Esar, thanks so much for arranging an extension to the wb sight.

Now everybody HAS to take advantage of it... right???

Best tregards,

Judy (neiman) Shaicovitch

I was delighted to hear our websight will be ours for one more year.  Thanks for the gift of the holidays.  Good news!

I like it and I was thinking maybe those who are interested to get together for a "party" with Bella entairtening us. The "smarts" will figure the cost.  A time that we could appreciate it and not miss it.  Let's organize it for the fun of it.

Thanks Nafi for answering me.

Olga

Anita Bercovitch (Gelbart)

Hi all,

I have just come home from a lovely holiday .Unfortuneately I didn't take my laptop or have easy access to the internet..

It is wonderful that we will still have the internet site in which to connect.  Thank you again to all concerned.

Abigail it was a lovely gesture on your part to invite everybody to celebrate Channuah.  If I would have been around ,I would have attended. I am sure those who did, had a wonderful time.

With those  with whom I did get a chance to reconnect a little, I would really like to establish some kind of link in the future.  We all have lived interesting lives.

At the moment I wish everyone a Healthy and Happy New Year.

Simon Cynamon

hi guys

simon cynamon reporting

i was just going through the yearbook looking for ted zwibel's picture -( you know, to refresh the memory ) and just for your information, it's at the end....so as i was scrolling down the pages of your pictures i was once again filled with love, the same love i felt for all of you then, filled with love again.

looking at our faces i see our spirit of joy,expectation,fearlessness....

here we are, at the ages of our parents then, who had just come out of the slaughter, and here we are, on the edge of the next slaughter.....hatred of us swirling arounds us with increasing intensity, increasing barbarity

these demons want to kill my mother

all our mothers

no exceptions !!!

i've been in israel since 1983

i became observant in 1979

and as we see that "dor ba, ve dor olech" generation follows generation...

bottom line.....we didn't bring ourselves into the world and for most of us, we don't take ourselves out of it

in tehillim-psalms of david- it says that the safety and security of a city -ultimately- rests with G-d.!

brothers and sisters, and i mean it, we are all after, brothers and sisters and

Hashem, G-d Almighty, The Creator, and as He likes to call Himself, The G-d of Israel

is our Father and He says over and over again- something i'm sure all of us feel--He is, each and every one of us's,personal G-d

yes it's true...that which each one of us has felt at some point,

that we have an exalted destiny

it's true

G-d has endowed each and every one of us with their particular talent, power and strenght

and the purpose of it all to break finally once and for all this cycle of darkness and evil...

Adam ate of the fruit of the Tree of Knowledge, The Knowledge Good and Evil

he was supposed to eat first of the Tree of Life and then of the Tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil.

once he'd been "innoculated"and made immune by Life to Evil.

our obligations as Jews-that which Kaballah amd Torah tells us-is tha G-d Himself requires of us  to rectify that primordial mistake...that is the whole point of our religion,Judaism..and every aspect of it is meant to

draw down to us the shefa the bounty the light the G-dly energy to vanquish Darkness.

by facing G-d our Maker our Father, turning to Him before He requires of us our final reckoning.

that and that alone, turning to Him, will break this cycle of hatred and brutality that has been washing over us again and again

the further from G-d the greater the hatred

,no place is immune

so the solution is to turn to G-d- and this is the last test....the last test is the test of who remains faithfull to Hashem to G-d our Father

i declare my love for you all once again

that and that alone has prompted these words

that and that alone is what accompanied our soldiers in their tremendous courage and power as they threw

themselves at the enemy...they died willingly....they love their parents

you've had children, you've had the great privilege of bringing more and more jewish souls into the world

you've known love of children, see their bravery

their selflesness,their light

Hashem sees us and looks at us with the greatest of love

i hope wish and pray for all our good

i will forever cherish you

Ginny Gita Arian (Baack)

This has been a roller coaster year.  We lost our dear, unique friend Ted Zwibel.  Thanks to Laura Strauss, some of us saw him at her house in his usual bright, cheerful colours, delighted to be among his friends.

I have reached the end of 7 years of work on my book which is now published, titled "The Inheritors:  Moving Forward from Generational Trauma".  I want to tell you about it because it is about us, our generation. The following is a brief introduction to the book.

The history of man is one that encompasses both acts of kindness as well as acts of evil impossible to understand. Life in general brings devastating events including just a few: economic, environmental, illness, injustice. My book brings to light the effects of traumatic events on the inheriting and future generations. The premise of the book is that our family legacies, both positive and negative, are passed down from one generation to the next in ways that are not fully understood. This secondary form of trauma has not received adequate attention, a failing that perpetuates cycles of pain, hatred, and violence for as many as seven generations if it is not processed. We are the carriers of memory for future generations, but we have the right to move forward to a whole, unburdened life.

“The Inheritors” builds from the work of my Taos dissertation.  I wanted to take out the academic language so that it would be more accessible to a wide range of readers. It wasn’t a difficult transition as my research methodology had been auto-ethnography and dialogue.  It is written from my lens as a child of Holocaust survivors, as well as from the personal stories by people I spoke with from different parts of the world, from someone who escaped Syria in the nick of time, to Vietnamese inheritors, to children of military parents. Through intimate stories, engaging dialogues, and a backpack of resources, readers will be able to process their inherited sadness and find solace in discovering common experiences with others. Guiding questions at the end of each chapter helps readers to uncover their own inherited stories and even their inherited memories to find their resilience and claim the whole life that we all deserve. It is available from me or from Amazon.ca. (my email gbaack@rogers.com).  I also published a wonderful poetry book titled:  "Poems of Angst and Awe" also available from me or Amazon.ca.  Friend me on FB to see upcoming events - I will be at a book fair Aug 27 in Montreal's Gelber Centre.
