Favorite School Memory/Story:
I was only at South for my sophomore year before moving to Bethlehem, Pennsylvania. I was in many ways sad to leave the many childhood friends and sports opportunities there, but also excited to experience a new part of the country. As many of you know, I returned to Kansas in the summers, and went to Kansas State for undergraduate and vet school, where I played soccer and had a blast. Favorite memories would be the fondness I felt for quite a few of the friends, too many to mention, going to football games,the hard work and closeness of the wrestling team, doing pretty crazy things in cars out on College Blvd. such as car chases, and harassing the cars with couples "parking" inside, we called it "prancing" the cars. Hanging out at 7-11, and generally noticing how cute and fun the girls werebecoming. I liked meeting new friends from the other Jr. Highs. Although I departed for 2years to Pennsylvania, when I went back to K-State, it was cool running into some of my "homies" from SMS. Growing up in Kansas is definitely part of who I am today, yet I now feel like a Kansavanian, or a PennsylKansan. Moving to Pa. made me notice how different things were elsewhere, and really motivated me to travel. Been to all 50 states now, and 39 countries or islands. I love being a veterinarian, and probably some of my cowboying around with Jeff Miller and horses contributed to that. Thanks Jeff! I still play soccer, but still have a passion for wrestling. My dad and I attend the Pennsylvania state championships yearly as a tradition. After vet school I lived in Gettysburg for 7 years, and now live on 11 acres outside of the state capital of Harrisburg. I'd love to hear from a lot of you...........you know who you are! It was my best buddy and next door neighbor Mark McClung who contacted me last summer during the 30th reunion, and he just recently informed me about this website. Mark's son goes to Univ. of Pennsylvania where my Dad went to school. Pretty coincidental. I love flashing back to my past, so I'll be tracking some of you down. Take care, Kurt
