After graduating from SMS I attended the University of Texas at Austin (Hook 'em Horns) and graduated with a B.A. in Government in 1983. While at UT I worked as a legislative assistant in the Texas Legislature and was involved in politics. I then moved to St. Louis to attend dental school at Washington University and graduated in 1987. After realizing that a career in dentistry was not for me I moved to Washington, DC to attend law school. I graduated in 1990 from the American University's Washington College of Law and joined a large Washington, DC law firm. I have been practicing international trade law ever since. I am also a law professor at the American University law school in Washington, DC.
In 2000 I married Emily, a paper conservator at the Smithsonian. We live in Washington, DC and like to travel to interesting places. I have been to Turkey more than 50 times.
In September 2017 I summited Mount Kilimanjaro in Tanzania and in May 2019 I went to Mount Everest Base Camp. I will be climbing Mount Rainier in August and cannot attend the 40th reunion.
I visit KC frequently and have stayed in touch with many SMS classmates.
I remain a Royals and Chiefs fan and attended the 2014 and 2015 playoffs and World Series and was at game 5 when the Royals won the WS in New York.
