Attended Oklahoma City University for three years as an English major, before finishing out my last two years at OU. I worked a number of jobs to get through college including a year at a tuxedo store, a summer tending bar at a jazz club, a stint as a lobbyist, a season as a ride operator at Frontier City, and a couple of years at Wal Mart. Graduated OU in 1994 with a Bachelors in International Studies.
Desperate to escape Oklahoma and do anything with my degree, I took a job as an English teacher in South Korea and spent the next couple of years in Pusan, South Korea and Hiroshima, Japan. On a trip back to the States between teaching contracts, WorldCom recruited me to work on their Sales Force Automation team. For the next 18 months, I travelled all over the US - working 80 hour weeks, organizing training workshops, teaching classes, and learning about computers first-hand. By early 1999, MCI had started to run the show so I left and became sales support manager for ConnectShip, a subsidiary of UPS.
Met my wife, Cassaundra, when I joined the Southeast Tulsa Jaycees in 2002. We started dating the day before she took a job in Oklahoma City and had a long-distance relationship for over a year. Finally, got married in 2003 and moved to Edmond where I became a developer for the University of Central Oklahoma. Had our first son, Lincoln, in 2005 and his brother, Drake, followed a year and a half later. In the middle of 2006, we moved down to Dallas and I have been working for Collin College since then as a database analyst and systems administrator.
