Ted Diadiun

Started out to be an architect, then a geologist, then settled on journalism and have worked for three newspapers over the last 46 years. Began in 1968 with the late, lamented Telegraph (worked with Janice Crawford, Steve Daniels and Mike Celizic, among others), moved to The News-Herald in Willoughby in 1973 (sports editor then executive editor), joined The Plain Dealer in 1989 (was sports editor and assistant managing editor, and later the reader representative -- think "ombudsman"). Retired as a fulltime employee in 2010 but for four years continued to write a weekly column on journalism issues and ethics for the Sunday Forum section. Earned a B.S. in Journalism from Kent (finally went back and took the classes I needed to get it in 1992!). Last year I taught a graduate
level class there (Ethics in Mass Communication) as an adjunct professor -- a development I'm sure would stun the professors whose classes I stumbled through when I was a student there.

Moved to Ohio from New Jersey in our sophomore year. I had been floundering in high school there, and the move turned out to be a tremendous stroke of luck. I will never forget the open and welcoming reception I got from so many of you when I arrived at Riverside (during the Big Snow of 1962) as the new kid. You all quite literally changed my life and prospects, in ways I'm sure you have no idea and do not remember. But I do.
