Oracle April Fool's Day Edition

Having an April Fool's Day Edition was a tradition at Gunn.  In 1980, the April Fool's Day edition was printed on white paper with blue ink (don't know why, but it wasn't the usual newsprint and black ink).  This edition followed several editions where the photographs came out as black boxes -- for some reason, the half-tones just didn't work right.  It was rather embarassing for the Oracle staff, although this problem did lessen a bit with the help of a new photography editor.  The "NOCLASS" article in this edition did a good job of putting a humorous spin on this situation.

It's interesting to note that the humor of 1980 probably wouldn't be politically correct enough to get printed today (Principal Lynch caught as drug kingpin?).  Paly did their own version of an April Fool's Day Campanile, but it pushed the envelope too far and caused all kinds of negative buzz, plus subsequent resignations.  That distraction might have made The Oracle's Bell Motel spoof advertisement and night at the prom article go unnoticed.  Thanks, Paly!
