My husband Bobby & I decided we needed a change in 2013. We bought a small place on an acre of land 4 miles south of Avinger, Tx.(pop.446) 2 miles from Lake O' the Pines in East Texas. Good thing there's a Dollar Store! The lake is beautiful & full right now ready for fishing. Our niece & family lives south in Longview. We are also close to the little historical town of Jefferson. We are only an hour away from Shreveport, LA. My sister Diana lives only 12 minutes away from us. We love it in the country! It's so quiet most of the time. It is so beautiful here. Our neighbors own horses that come up to our fence often...especially if I have carrots to feed them! There are so many kinds of birds singing all the time. The frogs are croaking really loud in the evening now at the pond. It's very laid back out here with our older rescue border collie dog Clancy McGuire. There are trains that go by (across the road)...that can get really loud at times, but we are used to them. We are enjoying the fragrant air & rains too. So peaceful & laid back! I do miss my old stomping grounds a little though.....
