Services for Dena LaRay Hamm, 70, of Tyler, Texas will be held at 2 pm on September 9, 2018 at Lakeview Funeral Home Chapel 5000 W. Harrison Road, Longview, Texas 75604. Family will receive friends and have visitation at 1pm prior to service. Officiant will be assistant Chaplain and great-niece Alex Velasquez. LaRay passed away on Saturday September 1, 2018. She was born September 9, 1947 in Pampa, Texas to Dena Lee Powell Gates and Raymond E. Gates.
LaRay is survived by daughter Paula R. Shafer, son James Hamm, and sister Patsy Bryan. Also, special friend Gerald Cooper as well and her grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
LaRay was preceded in death by her husband Jerry W. Hamm, father Raymond E. Gates, and mother Dena Lee Powell Gates.
In lieu of flowers, donations will be accepted to Juvenile Rheumatoid Arthritis Foundation or any organization supporting the welfare of animals.
