Allen Eugene Snapp Obituary

Allen E. Snapp, 77 years old, of Pampa, Texas, was reunited with his soulmate and the love of his life, Jan, at the throne of our Savior when called home on Monday, October 20, 2025, with a room full of loved ones surrounding him with love and comfort. Born the oldest of the five “Snapp kids”, Allen blessed Mervin and Ruth Snapp on March 20, 1948, while living in Salina, Kansas.

In 1955, Mervin moved the family to Pampa and eventually, throughout the years of their childhood and teenage years, their shenanigans began to precede them – both good and bad – hence the fact that in a small town like Pampa, most people know a story or maybe two of things in their past. Allen attended Pampa High School, however, due to a few incidences, perhaps too many traffic tickets, and a ride in Ruff Jordan’s infamous elevator, he didn’t graduate from high school and rather enlisted into the United States Army where he was deployed to Vietnam and served two terms. Once he was discharged and returned home, he, along with his mother, attained their GED’s together.

While home on leave, he was set up on a blind date with Janet Calvert by a friend and little did he know what it would develop into. The two of them had a mutual attraction and began writing letters to one another every day, but since Allen was stationed in Vietnam, the mail wasn’t always very reliable and there were times they may go days without receiving a letter and then get 6 or 7 at once. This continued throughout their relationship, only seeing one another while Allen was home on leave for short spans. Their entire dating experience was long distance and via letters – he even proposed to Jan and mailed her engagement rings to her through the postal service! Of course, she said “yes” and they were married 56 years at the time of her passing in 2024.

Once home from the military, he began his lifelong career in the oilfield. He started as a roughneck for a stint before getting hired on with Haliburton where he worked for 15 years until he became a well consultant then in 1987, with a small Kubota and a trailer, he started a roustabout service, Snappy Services, and eventually ventured even further forming Premier Well Services. Allen was an extremely hard worker and truly enjoyed what he did, he often said, “If you love what you do, you never work a day in your life.”

Not only was Allen a dedicated provider for his family, but he was also involved in several organizations as well. He and Jan were both devoted members of Highland Baptist Church where he was a Deacon, a Sunday School Teacher, led the music for years, helped with the youth and any other capacity he felt led to fill. He was also a 50 year member of the Top O’ Texas Masonic Lodge #1381, Past Master of the Top O’ Texas Masonic Lodge #1381 and the McLean Lodge #889, District Deputy Grand Master of the 98th District of the Grand Lodge of Texas, a member of the El Paso Scottish Rite Bodies holding the honor of the 32nd Degree, a Khiva Shriner, the VFW Post #1657, and the High Plains Cruisers.

Allen worked hard, but he also played hard. Loving the outdoors, camping with family and friends was right up his alley. He enjoyed every aspect of it, sitting around a campfire sipping coffee telling stories, pulling the kids behind the boat on skis and tubes, checking jug lines, and fishing. Another of his favorite hobbies was hunting. It didn’t matter if it was hunting on his farm for deer or traveling to Colorado to try for an elk, as long as it was with loved ones making memories. He was also an avid collector of knives and guns as well as classic cars. Most recently though, the highlight of his days was feeding his cows and chickens with his brother, Donnie.

If you knew Allen, you know how selfless he truly was. He gave 100% and poured into everyone, helping in ways only he knew, because he sought no recognition and never boasted. Nine times out of ten, when he bought a “toy”, it wasn’t for his personal gain, however, he received his enjoyment from seeing the happiness and smiles he brought to others by urging them to “take it for a spin”. He truly brought laughter and joy to so many people through his generosity and witty sense of humor.

For many people, Allen was many things, but for most people he was a solid rock, a firm foundation and a go-to for just about anything. Most generally, he tried to fix everything if possible. Knowledgeable in so many aspects and in more than just book smarts, he was wise. Allen has touched so many people’s lives through his love, generosity, wisdom, dedication or even his quick wit and all too familiar mischievous grin.

He was anxiously reunited in Heaven by his wife, Janet Snapp; his parents, Merin and Ruth Snapp and grandkids, Shandra Snapp and Jarred Winegeart.

His uncanny and remarkable ability to withstand any storm thrown his way will always be cherished by his two kids, Alana Winegeart and husband William of Pampa, Chad Snapp and wife Melissa of McLean; two brothers, Donnie Snapp and wife Rhonda, Bill Snapp and wife Carol; two sisters, Ginger Jones and husband John, Karen Mendoza and husband George all of Pampa; five grandchildren, Austen Snapp and wife Courtney of Pampa, Ashten Snapp of Pampa, Chloe’ Winegeart of Levelland, Caleb Snapp and wife Madyson “Leonard” of McLean and Victoria Winegeart of Pampa and one great-granddaughter Hollie Snapp not to mention the slew of nieces, nephews, cousins and other extended family members who all loved him dearly.

He will be available for viewing on Wednesday, October 22nd, from 4pm until 8pm in Woodhaven State Room, Thursday from 9am until 8pm and again Friday from 9am until 8pm with a Gathering of Family and Friends Visitation from 6 to 8pm in the Serenity Chapel.

Celebration of Life Funeral Services are scheduled for 1:00 pm, Saturday, October 25, 2025, at Briarwood Church with Brother Paul Nachtigall officiating. Burial will immediately follow in Memory Gardens Cemetery. The family has entrusted the care of their loved one to Winegeart Funeral Home.

Should donations in honor of Allen be preferred, the family suggests they be made to The Staurolite Foundation. They outfit hunting and fishing trips for the wounded military veterans, including Pronghorn hunt in the Texas panhandle and a deer hunt. This program was close to Allen’s heart, and he actively supported and hosted these hunts on his ranch. Donations may be sent to The Staurolite Foundation, PO Box 1942, Pampa, TX 79065.
