In the fall of 1966 Chuck and I were students at the University of Illinois. That year was his Freshman year in the College of Veterinary Medicine, and I was a Junior student in LAS studying Music and German. He would call, and we talked periodically. On one occasion he asked me if I would like to "go out" with his room-mate (also a Freshman in Vet Med), and arranged a "blind date" for us, which took place on October 1, 1966. Ironically, that "room-mate" was Dennis Schwarzentraub, who has continued to be a wonderful part of my life since that first "blind date"! Dennis and I have been married for 46 years and have 4 children and 8 grandchildren. We were shocked and saddened by Chuck's untimely passing, and always grateful for his connection in "fixing us up" and bringing our lives together.
