Francine Saunders (Britton)

Francine was such an integral part of our class.  According to her husband, Joe, she had been in a battle with breast cancer; she never lost her battle she just ran out of time on April 29, 2010.  Joe will provide more information to us.

This was a tribute to Francine from her loving husband, Joe.  It was read at Francine's memorial service.

FOR MY FRANCINE

May 9, 2010

It’s been 10 days now, unbelievable. In June, we would have been married 44 years. In October, it would have been 48 years since that first “blind date” in 1962. She told me she loved me two weeks after we met and proceeded to prove it for nearly 48 years. No easy task at times! I adored her. She was always my Princess. Regardless of what might be going on around us, we lived a fairy tale romance.

The only thing we were unhappy about is that we weren’t high school sweethearts. It was about wanting more time together. We just loved each other’s company and always wanted to be together as much as possible.

My beautiful Fran was a wonderful, loving wife, mother and grandmother. Her boys, Frank, Jim, and grandsons, Calvin and Miles gave her such joy. She was a smart, capable business partner.

She could always cut right through to the crux of any matter. My partners and I will have to make
some big adjustments. Everyone that knew her in our private and business life loved her. During her illness, there were people we knew who were praying for her or wishing her well, literally around the world. She will be sorely missed, not only by me, but by her family, friends and business associates.
In the end and over the last few months of her illness, she shined, she always thought of others first, she never lost her dignity, she fought like a champion, she was never afraid, she never complained, she was always an optimist, she retained her marvelous wit and her beautiful blue eyes beamed love.

Fran, I love you so.

Joe

I was 'just found' as it were, so I am new to this ParkRidge62 site.  However, when I did register and review what was on it, I was shocked to learn of Fran's passing.  The last year of high school, we got to be (as she wrote in the yearbook) really good friends.  We had a number of classes together, and I cannot tell you how much we laughed together.  At times we would seek each other out to study economics and do the required projects.  I just cannot empathize enough with you at her passing.  But know that, even though Fran and I haven't been in contact for many years, I still consider her as having been a close friend.
