This is on a different topic.  I hope starting a new topic this way is ok.

My wife and I are now embarking on full-time use of Medicare.  Does anyone have any advice - Medicare Advantage vs. Suplemental Plans?  Which plan? Any thoughts/experiences with choosing a Medicare "D" Plan?  Any/all suggestions, experiences (good or bad) would be appreciated.

This is a great site.  Much better than facebook (which of course I hardly use).  I am also trying to see how to add a picture.  I tried three times and I guess the picture went into cyber space because it didn't show up in my profile.  I guess eventually I will figure it out.

Here's how to add photos.  Best you learn how to yourself, but, if you have problem you can email me the photos and I'll upload them for you.

Adding    "Profile Gallery Images" to your Profile:

  • Click  "Edit Profile" under MEMBER FUNCTIONS.
  • Click the photo tab in the upper right corner of your Profile.
  • You will see any images previously uploaded here. Click the "Upload a New Photo" button to add more.
  • Click to select images you wish to display on your Profile. All images with a green check mark will display. Click again to not display, and the green check mark will disappear.
  • To add a caption under your images, roll over any image and select "Edit Details". Enter your caption and press save.
  • You can adjust the display order of your photos by simply dragging and dropping them into the positions of your choosing.

Hey Karen, do you have a sister in class of 1965?  How many siblings do you have, names, birthdates or ages.  I was just curious but helping class of 65 with their website and thought I saw an Orlowski on their graduation list.  How are you doing too, is your leg getting better?   hugs..

Hi everyone,

I'm not sure if I am in the right place but here goes:  I have a request.  Norman Schofield is living in a nursing home right now.  He had an accident many years ago which left him with no short term memory.  He can often remember things from high school and back but not forward.  He received degrees from three colleges and was a physicist at Goddard Space Center before the accident.  None of that time is in his memory.  Now he is having difficulty adjusting to the changes in the people he sees.  Sometimes he doesn't even recognize his own sister, Peg (class of '65).  I would like to make a scrapbook with high school pictures, current pictures and/or pictures "through the years" of classmates from the band, National Honor Society, and the Radio Club.  The idea is to show him the changes in people so he can adjust a little better.  If you can send pictures and stories to add to the book, I would appreciate it.  E-mail to enocella@outlook.com

Thanks,

Elaine Jensen Nocella

Halloween Story.  Let me get this started.  I was just remembering one time my brother and I decided we would use these huge drums from the attick. You know the kind they used to use to pack dishes in for moving...They are really think cardboard with metal rims.  We turned them upside down and drew Mr & Mrs Potato Head...We thought it was so cool...UNTIL..we tried putting this heave drums over our heads and walk aroud the neighborhood.  I think we got as far as the street and ran back back.  Hmm, I wonder if Lynn Hamilton-Rinella remembers that one!  Gosh those things were heavy.  What say you!

Does anyone remember the great Halloween parties at the American Legion Hall in Lake Hiawatha.  We use to go every year.  They gave prizes for the best, the funniest costumes, etc.  Then there was the apple dunking and everyone just had such a fun time.  I wonder if they still do that for the kids today.  Happy Halloween everyone.

Of course I do.  My dad was the commander and put the party together.  What fun.

Tom:

Medicare Advantage Plans can be a good choice if your physicians and medical facilities you use are included in their network. Networks however change annually so keep on top of that.  If not, tradition Medicare may be a better option. You would need a supplemental plan with traditional Medicare to cover the Medicare deductibles and copays. . See which plans are offered in your area and compare what you may need and want then make a choice. I would recommend some type of long term care coverage in your supplement. If a procedure is not covered by Medicare, it will not be covered by the supplemental. As for Medicare D, go to the Medicare website and enter your medication (if any) and compare the plans and coverage prior to making a choice.

Hope this was helpful.

I don't think I was around for the Halloween parties, but I do remember going to dances at the Legion ( or maybe it was the VFW) in Lake Hiawatha.  Great fun.

Hi Nancy:

Do you remember when we were kids (I mean little kids)?  Rene and I use to come over to your house to play?  I remember your grandmother cooking in the kitchen.  The house smelled so good when she made her spaghetti sauce.  She always use to put bell peppers in her sauce and that made it taste super good.  I still can see her in your kitchen and close my eyes and smell her wonderful sauce.   My mom doesn't use bell peppers in her sauce but when ever I make the sauce I always use them because they give it that special flavor.  Mom has a picture of your mom and grandmother and my mom and grandmother and Mrs. Grado and a whole bunch of other women from Lake Hiawatha when they went to a Catholic Daughter's dinner.  She also has a picture of your mom and grandmother at our house at one of our birthday parties.  It brings back some good memories.

Take care and keep well.

Pat
