Hey all. My father was a minister at Pasco Presbyterian, and I was a stereotypical "preacher's kid." Bad. Or at least I tried. Graduated from Whitworth University. Traveled a bit, moved to Seattle and started working in TV. Funny, that. I remember watching Richard Nixon on our old B/W RCA set in the basement at 1742 W. Henry (cuz it was the only place that was cool--I mean below 90 degrees) and somehow knew I would work in media or TV. Have been a producer for 30 years at KCTS 9/Crosscut--documentaries, concerts, public affairs, arts. I travel a lot, bike a lot, work a lot, play my violin a lot. I would love catch up with you guys. Contact me at stephen.hegg@gmail.com or get at me through Facebook (Stephen Hegg).
I ran for Senior High President with the slogan of "We need an Hegg-Xecutive!" with a cool gavel logo. You know, "government?" Didn't seem to resonate. I lost to Rick Getchell, who had a picture of a guy puking and a tag line of "don't be sick--vote for Rick."
Played violin in the orchestra (still play), loved Mr. Banks' history class, hated Mrs. Birdsell's chemistry class, loved to draw comics for Lexie LeMieux (she had a great laugh), thought it was unfair that Penny Lee had a new Camaro, got in plenty o' trouble with Don Brown and Dick Bruce and Mike Driver. I was a good kid who tried to be bad. I am still trying. The world, as we've found out, is a unpredictable but wonderful place, and it was fully represented at PHS in 1971: a ridiculous war, political violence and unrest, revolution, racial injustice...we were just too young then to put it perspective. Don't tell me we've now become the establishment! Are we still going to change the world?
