Deborah Taylor

I moved to Florida in 1978 to attend college and stayed to teach for the past 34 years.

I enjoyed being involved in my church youth group, girl scouts, and basketball. I loved to swim, go camping, play with my pets, and play card/board games. The hard part of my school years was after my brother, Freddie, died in a car accident in 1973. Life was not the same at home or at school. Everyone felt so bad about it, no one knew what to say, so no one said anything. I didn't grieve his death completely until about 15 years later. However, that experience has helped me as a teacher to help students who have experienced death in their families and to help students know what to say to them when they return to school.

I was a Fall person. I like the cooler weather, the colors of the leaves, and Giles football games.

My greatest contribution has been inspiring students how to love books and love to read. I also taught some math survival skills. I also loved and worked in a women's and children's homeless ministry for four years and enjoyed helping those who has lost hope in life to regain it and make a fresh new start.
