Richard Dennis Markis, died suddenly Friday, July 28, 2006 at Vassar Brothers Hospital in Poughkeepsie, he was 57 years old. He was born on November 26, 1948 to George and Marie (Stevens) Markis in New York City. In 1967 Richard graduated from Peekskill High School and immediately went into the Navy where he served until 1970. Upon leaving the Navy he joined Readers Digest where he continued to work until 1993. Richard also worked as a service manager for Curry Chevrolet during the 1990s and was currently employed by Fishkill Toyota - Subaru as a service manager. Throughout his life Richard has been an avid golfer and snowmobiler. He was a loving father and son and loved by everyone who knew him as he "didn't have a mean bone in his body. Richard is survived by his mother, Marie Markis, of Putnam Valley, his four children: Melissa and Jessica Markis, both of New York City, Richard Markis, Jr., of Brewster and Matthew Markis, of Brewster, NY; his brother, Robert Markis, of Montrose; sister, Suzanne Mauriello, of Putnam Valley; his former wives: Diane Lancaster and Susan Quinn and his two grandsons. The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm on Monday at the E.O. CURRY FUNERAL HOME, INC., 313 North James St., Peekskill, NY, where Funeral Services will be held 11 am, Tuesday, August 1st, followed by interment at Rose Hills Memorial Park.
